A quick poll. It occurred to me that not everyone wants to read that sort of thing, and that I could always make an opt-in filter for it, so that it wouldn't clutter up peoples friends' pages. Of course, people might not care, either, and it's been a really long time since I made an LJ poll. So, indulge me. ;)

mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Winter Is Coming)
So November is continuing right on until Christmas this year, it seems. I want to complain to management, except I keep getting put on hold with horrific Christmas music on loop.

Okay, inquiring minds want to know. Inspired by a post by [livejournal.com profile] bodhifox, I have been thinking about what my role is in life, what my "title" would be. I can't think of one for myself. I am not Writer or Artist or Engineer or Mother or anything like that. I've never asked anyone else who or what they think I am (I think I'm a little afraid of what they might answer).

What about y'all?

[Poll #1474904]
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Zombies)
Okay, this has never actually happened to me before, but I've been stuck on what to call my zombie novel for nearly three years now. The inestimable [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse came up with two brilliant titles ("Afternoon Snack of the Living Dead" and "Crisse, des zombies! (Zombie Crisis!)") which are sadly too tongue-in-cheek for the tone the book eventually developed.

So, those of you who've read it, any suggestions? If you haven't read it, you can read the majority of the first draft here, although it has changed a fair bit since I first published it.

(I will not be offended if you don't read it, no worries.)

Help?

:::ETA:::

Okay, people. Maybe I wasn't explicit enough. THE TITLE MUST NOT BE FLIPPANT. That is precisely what I am trying to avoid.

Let's try again.

Okay, I've narrowed my choices of which showing of Cobra: The Musical III I want to go to. Who wants to join me? If you're coming, pick which date you'd rather go on. The first is Sunday, the second is Tuesday. Tickets are $11.

For those of you who can't come with me on those dates, there are plenty of other showtimes, all listed here.

Den!Mother gave me a lift home from work. YAY! Bed is coming early today, which is great after yesterday's exercise in sleep-deprivation. Mind you, it was totally worth it. Doing the Star Trek Shuffle in the IKEA parking lot with a good friend is tons of fun. :)

It occurs to me that I haven't done a voice post in a while. With this in mind, I'm giving my faithful LJ audience an extra interactive incentive, by posting a poll, which is also something I haven't done in a while.

Go nuts! When I get up tonight I'll make the voice post (supposing I don't get up way too late).

[Poll #1381173]
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (I amaze myself)
I was just thinking the other day that most of my friends (the ones who've read and enjoyed Harry Potter, that is) identify strongly with either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. A couple have identified as Slytherins, and I think I might well be the only one who considers herself a Hufflepuff.

Then I realized that I always talk to the same people about this sort of thing, so I thought I would put the question more broadly to my flist, out of curiosity.

[Poll #1322214]
mousme: Two open books, one lying on top of the other at an angle (Books)
I'm starting to make a habit of these. Weird.

Anyway, I'm just curious about what makes people think "classic" when we start talking books. So, without further ado, what is the FIRST book that springs to mind when someone says "classic?"

Have at it!

I always seem to base my polls on whatever's going on with me. Ever notice that? Anyway, since I was feeling kind of meh last night, this poll occurred to me.

[Poll #1305633]

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] tx_cronopio for inspiring me to resurrect the ticky. :)

Okay,I haven't posted a random poll in a while, and I'm contemplating making more coffee, so here you go!

[Poll #1296581]
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Breast Cancer)
Okay, folks!

Now we're getting down to the nitty-gritty. I mentioned earlier that I am happy to provide extra incentive for people to contribute moolah to my very good cause, on TOP of having all my hair shaved off. To wit: I will be taking requests for food, small craft items, creative writing, and any other reasonable request people can come up with.

So now we need to discuss prices. Thus, a poll!

Hello again, all!

I promise, after today's spam, I shall try to limit myself to one or maybe two posts a day about Shave To Save.

It has been suggested that I provide extra incentives to my darling friends in order to encourage you to sponsor me. I am all on board with this. So here's a poll to see what your preferences are. For the record, I am willing to do any and all of the following, but I'm curious about your answers. Also, I'd like to hear other suggestions.

The details will be worked out in comments and/or later posts. :)

Have at it!

Dear flist,

I am lacking 18 goals for my 101 Things in 1001 Days list. My imagination has failed me, so I am appealing to you, my LJ friends, for ideas. Many of you know me pretty well, so you have a good idea of what kind of things I'd like to do, and stuff that would push my boundaries.

Suggest away, please! If you're really inspired and have more than three ideas, by all means put them in comments. :)

Thanks!

A poll!

mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Pretty cunning)
I like polls, so I give you another one. It seems to me that my flist comprises a bunch of very talented people, and as such I was curious about the "unsung" skills that are currently enjoying a newfound popularity. All the skills our great-grandmothers and grandmothers took for granted, but which many of our own mothers never learned for various reasons and thus never passed on to us.

So, what do you do?

[Poll #1054891]
mousme: A text icon, white text on green, that reads Zathras trained in crisis management (Crisis Management)
I have a silly problem. Namely, I have too many things I could be writing, but I don't know which one to start with. An overabundance of wealth, so to speak.

So I'm making a poll, just because I can! Help me solve my dilemma. :)

[Poll #1033336]
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (News Flash!)
Okay, so I have decided that April shall be the month in which I take myself in hand. Enough of this silly wallowing in wintry woes (ooh, an alliteration!). It's spring, the sun is out, the days are warm but not horribly hot, and it's high time I turned things around.

I am declaring April "Micromanagement Month." There's a reason for that name, but I won't get into it in great detail right now. What I will say is that there are several aspects of my life that I want to improve and/or change, and I've let myself slide into apathy. So I'm going to micromanage my life throughout April. That's 30 days in which I will cut myself little or no slack, document everything, and see what happens.

It's an experiment, see? On a really small scale, with no control group.

The idea is also to keep myself honest about this. So I am committing myself to posting at least once a day to LJ on this topic. However, it's not going to be fun reading. There will be lists, and numbers, and all sorts of stuff that is interesting for no one except me and those few who for whatever reason are interested in the minutiae of my everyday life.

I'm going to be talking about health, weight, housecleaning, creative writing, and possibly interior decoration, as well as finances and, well, boring stuff like that. Possibly in excruciating detail.

Thus, I'm going to put those posts into an opt-in filter. I will NOT be offended if you don't want to read it. If you're interested in helping to keep me honest, then by all means come aboard. There is no pressure, however. It's not likely to contain any sort of brilliant analysis, or anything remotely like that.

I've made a poll to aid in this matter. All future posts on this topic will be in the filter.

So I mentioned in my last post that I might be making a filter in which I would go into painfully boring detail about my upcoming Campaign For Physical Fitness. If I do end up making this filter (it's all highly theoretical at this point), would you like to be included? I will not at all be offended/hurt/angry if you don't want to read that kind of stuff. Weight and fitness are iffy subjects at best, and are triggery for some people. Hence, y'know, the filter. :)

So:

[Poll #767264]

Oh, and GIP! Sort of...
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (I'll be in my bunk)
Okay, folks. I'm going to use my friends as an excuse to clean my apartment. Apparently only the threat of public humiliation will ever get me to clean up this place to my satisfaction. So. I'm going to host a very belated housewarming party for myself. Yay!

I know all of you are busy beavers, so I'm also going to take this opportunity to post a poll to figure out which date is best for this sort of thing. It's going to be in August, since July is booked solid for everyone I know, myself included. I want it to be in summer, though, because so many of you are allergic to cats that I think it's best if there's the possibility to retreat out of doors away from the cats and cat hair.

Have at it! Poll behind the cut! )
