So I now officially own a house. I am going to be in debt for the next twenty-five years. I'm excited. \o/

Housewarming is tentatively scheduled to coincide with my yearly Hallowe'en party on the 31st, and will start in the afternoon and go into the evening so that people can come as early or late as they wish. :)

Signing for the new house in early October. Moving-in date is tentatively set for October 15th, barring complications.

\o/

I don't suppose anyone out there would be willing to help out in exchange for copious amounts of beer and pizza? ;)

I'm also going to set the housewarming for as soon as possible after I move, so that it will motivate me to unpack everything rather than just stop when the house gets to be "livable."

This weekend was officially Not Restful, although I had bucketfuls of fun at band practice, my belated housewarming, and the game on Sunday.

Thank God today was quiet at work.

The question of the week is: "Is your metaphorical sink shiny?"

I wrote my 100th instalment of Beyond the Pale today. It'll be posted next week. I'm excited. I think I won't participate in the 3-Day Novel Challenge this year. I think that's a wee bit much to ask of myself, given everything else that's going on. I'm going to get one more NaNo under my belt, and if that goes well, then I'll participate next year. I'll have more money then, too.

I was going to go to bed early tonight. I got sucked in by LJ and blogs and stuff.

Tomorrow there will be cooking. Muahahaa!

Great party.

Many many thanks to those who came. :)

I'm not hungover in spite of a great deal of lychee punch (there was a lot of gin involved) and two large glasses of t!'s excellent sangria. I did drink a fair bit of water and other stuff, though, and I had a headache around 10pm and took some Tylenol then, so that might explain it.

That being said, I'm a freaking zombie this morning. I'm amazed that I'm even slightly coherent, let alone able to type. Well, given the number of typos I'm correcting as I go, maybe I'm not as coherent as I thought.

I have a fair bit of post-party cleaning to do, but it shouldn't be too big a problem. Compared to the cleaning I did all week, this should be a cake-walk.

I have so. much. food. left over. It's the sign of a good party: you end up with more food than you started with.

I think I hit on a good mix of people, all told. I spent most of my time running around and so didn't get a chance to speak with anyone for any length of time, but everyone seemed to be having a good time as far as I could tell.

My throat still hurts from last night. I really hope it's just the result of talking too much and running around. I don't waant to get sick right now.

In other cleaning news, I still need to finish cleaning my bedroom, and then I'm going to start on smaller cleaning projects. The closets in the dining room need decluttering, and I have a backlog of laundry to take care of.

I got a slow cooker from [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse and [livejournal.com profile] chibipunkdemon. They are teh awesome. I lurve my new slow cooker. I shall be making some kind of slow cooker thing this week, just because I can. Whee!

I think I'll have a small nap first. I can't really see straight right now. :)

I promised myself I would clean today. It's not too hot out to do so. I have Gatorade waiting for me in the fridge.

I cleaned a small spot, but it's a drop of water in an ocean of cleaning.

I will post about my upcoming housewarming this weekend, I promise. For the sake of my sanity, I've decided to have it at 6pm, which gives me (I hope) enough time after band practice to run around like a headless chicken and make last-minute preparations.

Okay. I'm going to go clean now. I need an icon for that...

Okay, after consulting my poll, my own schedule, and my landlady, I have come up with an official date and time for my housewarming shindig:

Saturday, August 12th 2006, starting at 4:00pm. That's late enough to drink, early enough for people with babies (I hope!).

I will try to provide a decent selection of booze, but I will be officially strapped for cash until September, so if you have something in particular you really like, you may want to bring it yourself. I shall provide snack-type foods and hopefully a decent amount of meat for the barbecue. Pray for nice weather! Again, your own contributions are welcome, though if you don't bring anything it's not the end of the world.

For those of you who know where t! and [livejournal.com profile] ai731 live, well, I live upstairs. For the rest of you, I will be happy to provide an address and directions by email. I can be reached at brunelle_d at sympatico dot ca, or at mousme at livejournal dot com.

If you're from out of town but think you might be in Montreal then, of course you're welcome to drop by. :)

If you won't be in town, or just can't make it for some reason, we'll tell silly stories about you behind your back consider you to be there in spirit. :)

Questions? Comments? Issues?

Okay, folks. I'm going to use my friends as an excuse to clean my apartment. Apparently only the threat of public humiliation will ever get me to clean up this place to my satisfaction. So. I'm going to host a very belated housewarming party for myself. Yay!

I know all of you are busy beavers, so I'm also going to take this opportunity to post a poll to figure out which date is best for this sort of thing. It's going to be in August, since July is booked solid for everyone I know, myself included. I want it to be in summer, though, because so many of you are allergic to cats that I think it's best if there's the possibility to retreat out of doors away from the cats and cat hair.

Have at it! Poll behind the cut! )

Band practice went well yesterday. No massive high like last week, when we kicked the butt of the intro to "Enter Sandman," but we got a lot of work done anyway. Re-visited songs we hadn't played in well over a month, and they went pretty well, all things told. [livejournal.com profile] ai731's new guitar sounds very very sweet on certain songs, and definitely gives a new feel to the music.

We are teh awesome.

I want to get myself some new drumsticks. The ones I have are okay, but after trying some of [livejournal.com profile] gmarc's, I have been converted. :)

Canada Day went by in a blur, between [livejournal.com profile] miseri's housewarming and [livejournal.com profile] owldaughter's concert. The housewarming was quite a success: food and good people, and much shouting about well-loved topics (books, movies, gaming, politics, and weird pet antics). The concert went really well, though the crown prince got sick halfway through, which sucked both for him and HRH, and we got seated behind the Loud And Bouncy Family Of Doom, which made it very difficult to enjoy the music in full.

I discovered last year at [livejournal.com profile] luvenditti's birthday that I can no longer watch fireworks directly anymore. I keep having to look down every thirty seconds, or my eyes start streaming. I think it's definitely time to have my eyes checked for strain and to see if I need a new prescription.

I also had a very nice time with [livejournal.com profile] grrscary yesterday. Just about all our friends know each other, but she and I managed never to have a conversation in three years or so that we've been navigating the same social circle. I'm not sure how that happened, but we fixed it yesterday. We went to "Cha Noir" on Wellington, which is a nice little tea place I wish I'd known about when I lived two blocks away, then skedaddled downtown to watch Superman Returns. I think I loved the score of the movie more than anything else. I kept singing "Su-per-man!" in my head whenever the trumpets sounded. I love the new Superman. I am not going into squeeing fangirl mode over it the way I have over some movies, but I enjoyed it tremendously. They did a very good job with it.

We went for coffee again after and spent the next three and a half hours talking, mostly about gaming. 'Twas a very good time. I'm only sorry we didn't do this earlier.

Today, food shopping.
