Okay, after consulting my poll, my own schedule, and my landlady, I have come up with an official date and time for my housewarming shindig:

Saturday, August 12th 2006, starting at 4:00pm. That's late enough to drink, early enough for people with babies (I hope!).

I will try to provide a decent selection of booze, but I will be officially strapped for cash until September, so if you have something in particular you really like, you may want to bring it yourself. I shall provide snack-type foods and hopefully a decent amount of meat for the barbecue. Pray for nice weather! Again, your own contributions are welcome, though if you don't bring anything it's not the end of the world.

For those of you who know where t! and [livejournal.com profile] ai731 live, well, I live upstairs. For the rest of you, I will be happy to provide an address and directions by email. I can be reached at brunelle_d at sympatico dot ca, or at mousme at livejournal dot com.

If you're from out of town but think you might be in Montreal then, of course you're welcome to drop by. :)

If you won't be in town, or just can't make it for some reason, we'll tell silly stories about you behind your back consider you to be there in spirit. :)

Questions? Comments? Issues?

Mark your calendars, folks, because it's time for another gig featuring everyone's favourite undefinable bands, Random Colour and Invisible.

For those of you just tuning in, I am the drummer for Random Colour. Yes, Virginia, I do hit things with sticks.

Anyway, April 22nd, that is exactly three weeks from tonight, the two bands will be performing back-to-back at the Paradoxe theatre, which is where we always do these things. Curtain goes up at eight.

If you need directions, ping me and I shall email them to you.

Admission is free, as always. Bring your friends and your own booze! Booze is always welcome. Bring people —the more the merrier, and so forth.

Those of you who haven't given up in disgust yet will be pleased to know that there are two new chapters waiting for you up at [livejournal.com profile] secret_history.

I'm not putting the direct link to the entries here because it's late and I'm tired and so I'm going to be lazy about this.

Happy Trails!

We're back!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we are back!

I present to you Part 28 of Beyond the Pale.

Be nice, I haven't done this in a while. ;)

I haven't pimped a friend in a while, so here's two new webcomics for the price of one.

By my good friend [livejournal.com profile] rowen26, who is far more talented than he gives himself credit for.

Also:

24 fps to which I don't have the banner, sadly.

By the very talented [livejournal.com profile] shenlo.

Go! Read! Standard threats of domiciliary arson apply if you don't. Also, I encourage you to pester them both to update regularly. :)

[livejournal.com profile] ai731 and [livejournal.com profile] baronscartop, do you require a lift this evening?

If so, leave me a comment, or come knock on my door after 6pm. I'm leaving the office in about five minutes.

GBP!

And a very happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave! I shall have to write a post about yesterday's festivities, although he summed it up nicely in his own LJ, for those who are curious.

Rock On!

Before I forget again, I have an announcement to make:

Next Saturday, October 22nd, at Paradoxe, Invisible and Random Colour will be performing live.

Concert starts at eight, and all friends of both bands are invited, as well as any guests said friends may wish to bring.

Please contact me or any other band member you know for directions to Paradoxe.

At least the line dancing classes are starting again this Friday.

I've found myself a more permanent partner for the couples dances, so that'll be fun. I was always having to scramble to find someone with whom to dance, so it'll be nice to know in advance that I have a partner lined up. Fred is a pretty good dancer, too, more advanced than I am, that's for certain, so it'll be a nice challenge. We're both planning on doing the advanced courses as well as the intermediate and beginner ones, so we'll see if I can wrap my mind around those. :)

For the record, there's a promotion on right now at the club. If you come to the first three lessons (so either the first three Fridays or the first three Sundays), you get in for free, and then you get your membership card for free, which is normally worth $50 (Canadian).

So, if you're in Montreal and you want to check out the country dance scene (yeah, I know there are lots of you out there), do feel free to drop by. Classes start at 7:30 pm (it's good to get there a bit early, as lineups form toward the beginning of the session), and the club is located on the corner of Amherst and Viger. Closest metro is Berri-UQAM. Ping me if you have questions, of course. :)

In other news, I really want it to be 1pm so I can go eat. I'm starving!

So, there's a Thing in August, to get all of us writing again. Why wait for NaNoWriMo, after all? My friend and landlady [livejournal.com profile] ai731 has come up with something very nifty.

I hereby present:

Jan's August Writing Challenge:

Write something every day in the month of August.

Sounds tough! What do I have to do?

Write. Something. Anything. Any length. Prose or poetry. Every day. For a month. And share it.

Sounds cool! How do I sign up?

Join the [livejournal.com profile] august_writing community

Link to this post in your LJ

Post either your writing, or a link to your writing on your LJ/blog/website to the community every day in August, starting on Monday, August 1st

Sounds simple! Are there any other rules?

Nope. Well, not really. It has to be creative writing - prose or poetry, of any any length, on any subject. Stuff you would normally be writing anyway counts (so, for those who write serials, that counts) but stuff you write for your job doesn't. But it can be anything. Short fiction, short-short fiction, essays, character studies, stream-of-consciousness, writing exercises (I'll try to post a bunch of these over the next few days to give people ideas), etc. Anything at all, so long as it's a self-contained piece of writing that you did that day.
