mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Dream the World)
I was patting myself on the back for not having had this dream in a really long time. Turns out I'm not immune, even fifteen years after leaving high school and ten years after leaving university (okay, not quite ten... nine? Ish?)

[livejournal.com profile] ladytairngire said in [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave's LJ that she believes school dreams to be iconic in the same way that flying and falling dreams are, and that makes a lot of sense to me. I know that I tend to have this school-based dream whenever I'm in the midst of making life changes (see previous post).

I personally find that whenever I dream of being in school or taking a test it reflects my progress in some life lesson. For example, if I dream of my grade school I'm at the beginning of a lesson, middle school = in the midst, high school or college = almost at the end. Confronted with a test you aren't prepared for? Finding yourself in the wrong classroom? These things can easily be metaphors for life events.

So, yes. Pretty much what she said. :)

Bwah!

Today's Scary Go Round has a teeny-tiny P.G. Wodehouse inside joke. It made my day. :)

Poor Largo. I do have to admire his dedication to the cause, though.

Elizabeth Peters is an evil, evil woman. The more I read, the more I want. I got my hands on a copy of "The Falcon At the Portal" and it just about broke my heart in twelve separate pieces. Wah! Nefret! Wah! Ramses! Waaaaaaah!

:::gets stabbed repeatedly in heart by cruel, merciless author:::

I can't begin to imagine how hard it must have been for her to do that to her characters. [livejournal.com profile] owldaughter is entirely to blame for my current heartbreak: she introduced me to the series.

In other news, work is work. I have so many things going on these days that I have no time at all to post about them, and more stuff is piling itself on top of that, and yet I still have to wedge sleep in there somewhere. Sleep-deprived!Phnee is not a fun Phnee, let me tell you.

Let's make a grocery list of stuff that's taking place in Phnee's existence these days:

This got long... )

Anyway, that's what I'm up to these days (and in the near future). I had a lovely chat on the phone with [livejournal.com profile] joane and [livejournal.com profile] shenlo later on. I looked up their number on canada411.com, since for some reason I didn't have it. I'm not much of a phone person as a rule, but I thought it was high time we have a voice-to-voice conversation as opposed to just an online chat. Not that those aren't a great way of communicating, but sometimes it's nice to hear people's voices on the other end of the line. Also, I got to squee in person about Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic, which is all to the good. :)

Now I'm going to bed. Might post a poll about the aforementioned filter first, but then definitely bed. :)
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Chimera)
Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic is still updating while [livejournal.com profile] shenlo is away.

Go forth and read the comics, and post in the forums! Feedback is a good thing. :)

Webcomics

Okay LJ folks, I need recommendations for some new webcomics, since some of my faves are kind of on hiatus.

Here are the ones I read now:

Two Lumps
Something*Positive
MegaTokyo
ScaryGoRound
Questionable Content
The Order of the Stick
24 fps
Yet Anothert Fantasy Gamer Comic
Vertical Horizons

So. Suggestions?
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Chimera)
Rarely do any of the webcomics I read make me laugh out loud. "Two Lumps" has its moments, but mostly I chuckle quietly to myself and move on.

And then there's Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic.

It has at least once made me snort a beverage through my nose. After that I was careful not to drink while reading it. It's hysterically funny. Yes, it's a gamer comic, but like "Questionable Content," which is all about indie music and seems to be one giant in-joke, it's even funny for people who don't know the gaming scene.

Go read it. It's in its infancy, but it will grow, and it will be awesome. Tell all your friends. I'm serious: the word needs to get out there about this webcomic. It deserves the widest audience we can give it. There's also a discussion forum.

Go forth and pimp the comic! Talk about it in the forums! Have fun! I command it. ;)

Colourized!

Now Gren and Bob are in colour! Hurray for [livejournal.com profile] shenlo!

I didn't have a very good time at the club's special event, but then I never do at these things. There's always too many people and not enough dances that I know, and I mostly just get overwhelmed by all the people.

I did win a $25 gift certificate to a restaurant in the gay village, so that's nice. The NQG was there, but she was DJing so we barely exchanged three words. She asked me to dance with a friend of hers for the salsa lesson, but he was a lousy dancer as well as shy and he very quickly backed into a corner and wouldn't be coaxed out again. I didn't really have the energy to do much coaxing, anyway.

Well, I'm not sorry I went. It's important to support my friends in their endeavours. I just rather wish I'd been able to sleep instead.

Tomorrow I shall make a point of taking a nap. That'll help.

So the chili is simmering. It's a bastardized version of all the recipes my darling flist provided me with the other day. I think I may have burnt the bottom a bit, but I lowered the heat with impressive alacrity, and am now waiting for it to thicken.

It smells really, really good. :)

So today was productive in spite of the migraine I started to develop about halfway through band practice. I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't something about the fumes from the Molson brewery next door, because that's not the first time I've developed migraines at the rehearsal space.

I have since taken Excedrin, and the migraine is receding. Go me!

I have a new webcomic to fangirl about: Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic by my pal [livejournal.com profile] shenlo, featuring Bob the Beholder. It's hilarious. Makes me laugh out loud every time. Go check it out, it's worth it.

:::ETA:::

Check out the new icon! It's from YAFGC. Go read the comic now!

:::end ETA:::

I am in a good mood, but still inexplicably tired. Either I'm getting anemic again (which would suck), or else the stress of the past two weeks has finally caught up with me and is insisting I take care of it by sleeping more. I will try to eat more spinach and other iron-rich stuff and get a bit more sleep, and see if that helps. The fact that I'm overtired is probably not helping keep the migraines at bay, either.
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Laundry)
Woe and darkness and teh sad.

*snerk*

I love this webcomic.

I'll have to see if I can send this to myself at work and print it out.
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (I can kill you with my brain)
Now I understand from your resume that you have birthed a thousand screaming young in the fires of Pluh-4 dimension, but how are you with Excel?

Scary Go Round hasn't been all that funny lately, but that one nearly made me snort coffee out of my nose. Maybe it's because I'm looking for a job...

*sob*

Something*Positive broke my heart. The evil bastards.

I haven't pimped a friend in a while, so here's two new webcomics for the price of one.

By my good friend [livejournal.com profile] rowen26, who is far more talented than he gives himself credit for.

Also:

24 fps to which I don't have the banner, sadly.

By the very talented [livejournal.com profile] shenlo.

Go! Read! Standard threats of domiciliary arson apply if you don't. Also, I encourage you to pester them both to update regularly. :)
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Who's flying this thing?)
I can't see my desk anymore. I'm frightened.

Hold me.

Time for new tactics. I have ten billion things to do, and probably not enough time in which to do them. I really need an extra superhero around here. You know: "By your powers combined, I am... Captain Prioritizer!"

Why yes, I have had the theme song to Captain Planet stuck in my head for days, why do you ask?

Which brings me to this, which is still funny even after all this time.

:::goes back to battling the encroaching paperwork:::
mousme: A view of a woman's legs from behind, wearing knee-high rainbow socks. The rest of the picture is black and white. (Wumph!)
Something*Positive has been building up to this big scene (Monette accidentally cuts up her father's beloved and valuable comics for collages, and everyone tells her that he'll be furious), and instead pulls this evil stunt on me instead of the expected resolution (mind you, I sort of guessed he'd forgive her, but not because of that).

Augh! So. Very. Evil.
