No, no: it's *Science*!
Sep. 6th, 2008 12:54 pmApparently good old common sense and a whole lot of "Chicken Soup For The Disillusioned Society's Soul" is now being labelled as a "scientific" approach to happiness.
Give me a break. This isn't science. It's an Oprah's Top Ten List of How To Be A Happy And Fulfilled American (though I do note that they encourage one to get involved in one's church or mosque, which amuses me for some reason).

Feb. 7th, 2007 01:08 pmThis is a good news post, actually.
There was a kerfuffle I meant to post about, wherein the National Pork Board (in the US) threatened to sue an online breastfeeding activist due to the slogan on one of her t-shirts. The t-shirt read: "The Other White Milk."
However, the National Pork Board has in fact not only withdrawn their original suit, but they have gone out of their way to right the wrong they committed. I am impressed.
There is hope for Big Business after all. Kudos to the NPB for doing the right thing the right way.

Hee hee hee!
Jan. 29th, 2007 10:11 amPoor Largo. I do have to admire his dedication to the cause, though.
Attention writers!
Oct. 17th, 2006 11:43 amFor those of you on my flist, and I know there are many of you, who are writers and aspiring writers, I would like to point you to this post by
drood on the nature of false starts: what they are, and why it's okay to delete things.
Bear in mind, for those of you doing NaNo: deleting happens after November. ;)

This needs to be read by more people
Sep. 10th, 2006 09:31 amI rarely post links in my LJ apart from the occasional amusing picture. Even more rarely do I say anything at all about 9/11. That topic has been discussed until no one knows what's truth and fiction anymore.
wolflady26 linked to this post, and I'm very glad I read it. It's nothing we don't know already, and while it's about 9/11 and war in general and the U.S., it's not a political post. It's a post about the meaning and the importance of truth.

wolflady26 I'm finding it difficult to explain exactly why it's important that people should read it. Let's just say that it's more than worthwhile to click the link and read. It'll take ten minutes at most if you're a really slow reader, and even if you don't agree with a single word, it's still worth it.

What he said
Mar. 9th, 2006 10:35 pm“Lord, remember me now as I enter into your Kingdom, for I was a member in good standing of a church that said some very nice things about you.”
The article was written by Gordon Atkinson (whose alter-ego Real Live Preacher may be better-known to some of you), and it about sums up a good deal of what I've been thinking about concerning my religion. Actually, for a Baptist priest, he certainly seems to echo a heck of a lot of what's going on in my head lately.
There's something very reassuring about him. It's nice to know that someone else out there also doesn't have all the answers, someone who's spent a lot more time than I have looking for them.

Fish!
Actually, this is about a different kind of fish.
Apparently this clever fishie has a modified version of the gene that whitened the skin of the early Europeans.
I just thought that was cool. I'm part fish! :D
