Got to bed late, am tired as a result. Oh well. That'll larn me, I guess.

Today's lesson: there's nothing quite like cleaning up cat puke first thing in the morning. I suppose I should be charmed that my cats are anxious for me to start the day on a good footing. :P

The other lesson is: no more tuna for George. I thought that a half-teaspoon in each bowl wouldn't be harmful for the cats, but I guess George's digestive system can't handle even that. He get kibble from now on. It's the only thing that doesn't make him sick on a consistent basis.

I had leftover muffin mix, so in about five minutes I shall have muffins. All I need now is a proper coffee maker, and my mornings will be pretty good, all told. In other exciting breakfast news, I have found that adding boiling water to instant oatmeal makes it taste better than cooking it in the microwave, and takes only just a bit more time. So, boiling water it is. I still need a proper kettle.

Okay. Gotta go get dressed. Breakfast is done, lunch is made.

I could use a nap, to be honest, but hey. I'll nap when I'm dead. ;)

I have no milk. No milk means no tea. I shall be back presently.

...

Five minutes later

The good thing about having a dépanneur one quarter of a block away is that I can always go get overpriced milk if I'm really desperate.

I am going to make bacon and eggs this morning. I still have both left over from last week. I am also going to have tea. I've been eating the homemade blueberry jam that [livejournal.com profile] silly_imp gave to me at my housewarming. It is exceedingly yummy. Made, as I recall, by P-who-has-no-LiveJournal.

I brought all my tea paraphernalia to the new job. I bought myself some special organic-type sugar as a treat, and have informed everyone there that they are welcome to partake of the tea should they so desire, but so far only our accountant has done so. I don't think she has an LJ, but I believe she's one or two steps removed, LJ-wise, from me. I'm a friend of people who are friends of [livejournal.com profile] the_adzo in whose basement she lives. I think I got the LJ name right. Not sure.

So, yes. Once again, an entire post about tea. I'm amazed people aren't leaving my flist in droves. :)

The floor is still not clean. I have some sort of weird psychological block about washing the damned floor.

Have switched from the soundtrack to "O Brother Where Art Thou?" to Concrete Blonde.

More dishes sneaked up on me and had to be done. Bathroom is halfway tidy.

I have tea! Many many thanks to t! who surprised me with a water bottle filled with milk earlier. Tea makes everything better. In fact, I shall use my tea icon, because I haven't used it on a post yet. Yay tea!

The whole "tired" thing isn't helping. I'm slowing down, and that of course means that everything else is slowing down as a result. I may have to resort to ABBA to keep me going. Or maybe I should put on Invisible. That ought to do it. :D

That being said, the apartment is in fact getting cleaner by the minute. It's even getting clean as I type, because I left some stuff to soak.

I should put a load of laundry in the machine. In fact, there are many things I need to do before going to bed. Tomorrow is going to be so much fun, let me tell ya...

Okay. Back to cleaning. :::rolls up sleeves:::

Band practice went well yesterday. No massive high like last week, when we kicked the butt of the intro to "Enter Sandman," but we got a lot of work done anyway. Re-visited songs we hadn't played in well over a month, and they went pretty well, all things told. [livejournal.com profile] ai731's new guitar sounds very very sweet on certain songs, and definitely gives a new feel to the music.

We are teh awesome.

I want to get myself some new drumsticks. The ones I have are okay, but after trying some of [livejournal.com profile] gmarc's, I have been converted. :)

Canada Day went by in a blur, between [livejournal.com profile] miseri's housewarming and [livejournal.com profile] owldaughter's concert. The housewarming was quite a success: food and good people, and much shouting about well-loved topics (books, movies, gaming, politics, and weird pet antics). The concert went really well, though the crown prince got sick halfway through, which sucked both for him and HRH, and we got seated behind the Loud And Bouncy Family Of Doom, which made it very difficult to enjoy the music in full.

I discovered last year at [livejournal.com profile] luvenditti's birthday that I can no longer watch fireworks directly anymore. I keep having to look down every thirty seconds, or my eyes start streaming. I think it's definitely time to have my eyes checked for strain and to see if I need a new prescription.

I also had a very nice time with [livejournal.com profile] grrscary yesterday. Just about all our friends know each other, but she and I managed never to have a conversation in three years or so that we've been navigating the same social circle. I'm not sure how that happened, but we fixed it yesterday. We went to "Cha Noir" on Wellington, which is a nice little tea place I wish I'd known about when I lived two blocks away, then skedaddled downtown to watch Superman Returns. I think I loved the score of the movie more than anything else. I kept singing "Su-per-man!" in my head whenever the trumpets sounded. I love the new Superman. I am not going into squeeing fangirl mode over it the way I have over some movies, but I enjoyed it tremendously. They did a very good job with it.

We went for coffee again after and spent the next three and a half hours talking, mostly about gaming. 'Twas a very good time. I'm only sorry we didn't do this earlier.

Today, food shopping.

So it has come to my attention that among my friends there are two schools of thought concerning the use of tea bags. To re-use, or not to re-use?

Complete purists don't use tea bags at all (I admit, tea leaves do taste better). Semi-purists will only use the tea bag for one cup of tea, or one pot at a time. The others see nothing wrong with re-using a tea bag once or twice, since it retains the flavour for a while.

So, to which school of thought do you belong? Or, if you don't drink tea, I've left you another voting option. :)

[Poll #563386]

...

I still don't have a tea icon.

I have tea. We got our new water-dispenser at work last night, and it dispenses hot water as well as cold. So I went to the local IGA and bought milk and tea bags: Earl Grey, Peppermint, and Orange and Ginger. There's already sugar in the office, from when we had a coffee pot that brewed perfectly disgusting coffee that no one ever drank except in desperation.

I got myself a mug with a pseudo-impressionist illustration of what might or might not be a café in Paris. I'm going to wash it and use it, because I hate drinking tea out of styrofoam.

Still. Tea puts a different spin on things.
