Mission: Impossible is going to be out on DVD in its entirety in November!

Squee!

Also, I bit the bullet and signed up for Zip.ca, and so far I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the service. The DVDs come quickly, and so far only one has come "out of order" since I've put only TV series on my wishlist. It's an exercise in patience for me, since I like to do marathons of TV seasons, but watching them four at a time and then waiting a week or so for the next four episodes is working out pretty well thus far.

I rented "Tru Blood" from my FLVS, and while it was very different from what I expected, I thoroughly enjoyed it once I revised my expectations. I have to say that the show does unsexy sex scenes remarkably well. The writing was solid, and made me laugh and laugh.

I have been renting "Prison Break," but someone else in the neighbourhood had the same idea as I did, and so I am currently being thwarted by the fact that the second disc of season 2 is out and has been for days. So I'm going to have to wait a little while before I find out what happens next.

So tonight I have a choice between Criminal Minds, Supernatural, and Deadwood. All in all, I can't complain. :)

I slept in today. Didn't get to sleep until very early this morning, which was likely the result of all the caffeine and sugar I ingested last night. Since I'm starting a night shift this week I'm not overly fussed. Flipping my sleep schedule around won't be much of a problem.

I'm finishing up the second season of Prison Break, which has resulted in some pretty intense dreams. In some ways the show is even more violent and horrific than 24, and that's saying something. I think it's probably not a coincidence that these two shows aired back-to-back on Fox.

Sometime in the next couple of days I am going to get my act together and try to get a proper routine started again. I had one going in July, but after WorldCon I never got back on track.

Starting in November, I will be starting a new work schedule, based on twelve-hour shifts. It means fewer days spent at work in a given week, but it also means that I'll be working one weekend out of two for the foreseeable future. So, good news and bad news. On the whole, though, I'm pleased about the change. It means that I'll never have to work seven days straight on a night shift anymore, for one thing, which is awesome. It also means that I'll be able to take a bit more time off, due to various administrative curly-cues. Good times.

With the new schedule in place, I'm hoping that I'll be able to get my life back into a semblance of order and productivity. Right now I feel like I've been at loose ends forever. Sure, stuff has been getting done, but not nearly at the pace I would like.

Updates as events warrant.

I have *no* idea what happened, but my lower eyelid is swollen and rather painful. Doesn't seem infected (not red or anything), but it hurts, and has been hurting since last night. So annoying.

Also, Prison Break ended their first scene on a cliffhanger! ARGH! WHY?!? So annoying. Now I'll have to get the second season just to see what happens.

Has anyone on my flist used zip.ca to rent dvds? I'm curious about how that works and if it's worth it.

The post about the last day of Camel's Hump can be found here, incidentally.

Sunday morning was a quiet affair, with everyone dragging themselves out of bed at a pretty decent hour, all things considered. [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave helped [livejournal.com profile] raven_albion and [livejournal.com profile] kilted_omalley with breakfast by making yummy sausages cooked in whisky. We had pancakes and there were eggs and bacon and coffee, thanks be to every god in the sky. ;)

We sat around all morning and chatted, and I finally got around to taking photos of [livejournal.com profile] raven_albion's garden as well as some of the ground floor of the house. I regret a bit not having taken more photos of the group activities apart from the climbing of the mountain, but I guess I'll do that next year. It's a very pretty garden, full of sunflowers and parsley as tall as my head.

Once everyone was packed and ready to go, we took a couple of group pictures, and there were sad hugs all around. I don't think anyone really wanted to leave by that point. It was all too short, as weekends go.

For the afternoon part of the trip, [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave, [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae, [livejournal.com profile] catsarah, [livejournal.com profile] bodhifox, [livejournal.com profile] aliyna and I went on a tour of the Ben & Jerry's ice cream factory. The tour was cutesy and meh, but we got a sample of ice cream, and I bought myself a cone of mint chocolate chunk ice cream.

We drove back to Montreal without incident, where I gave [livejournal.com profile] catsarah, [livejournal.com profile] sassy_fae and [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave a tour of my garden before sending them on their way. Then I went out and rented the first season of Prison Break so that I would finally see what the fuss was about.

It was shortly after that that I collapsed in an exhausted heap in my very own bed, ending the weekend.
