Night shift is performing its usual magic. This week I have done very little other than work and sleep.

I did post new installments up at Midnight Crossroads, and God help me, I actually wrote some fanfiction for the first time ever, because I was bored and my brain refused to produce anything else. Not that I think fanfiction isn't a valid form of expression, let me hasten to add. It's that my version of fanfiction is... unpublishable. It's not quite Mary-Sue levels of awful, but I suspect it's close. ¬_¬ Oh well. At least I'm writing, right?

I am watching the first X-Files movie. I seem to remember it being better than this.

In more random news, I have pulled something in my neck, which is making existence a wee bit more difficult than usual.

I'm going to order some needles from Knit Picks. With any luck, they'll be here by next week, so that I can get started on my Christmas shawl next weekend.

So, yeah. That's what I've been up to lately. As you can see, excitement abounds. :)

Dear X-Files,

We had it so good, you and I. I used to watch you with my mother every Friday, without fail. We even made my poor father eat dinner early sometimes so we'd be sure not to miss important episodes.

I relived the rush of discovery while I re-watched the first season. I loved watching the show mature all over again. I even forgave some of the foibles in seasons 6 through 8, because every show has its ups and downs, and there were enough good things to keep me coming back.

Now, though, I am watching Season 9, and I am not feeling the love anymore. You have a potentially interesting character in Agent Doggett, and Agent Reyes is annoying but not awful. I have to ask, though: did you fire all your writers and have some random guy from the production department write the script? Who came up with these plots? Poor Agent Doggett has come close to death three times already, and I'm not even halfway through the season! That's ridiculous. Scully is unrecognizable. It's as though they gave Gillian Anderson a completely different role to play and named it Scully for the hell of it.

I can't tell you how disappointed I am, X-Files. You're making a dog's breakfast of a show I loved. I know I'm years too late, and that everyone has already said this, but I feel compelled to say it again.

No love,

Me

I forgot that the X-Files did a COPS-themed show.

O, I am D-E-D.

Currently watching an X-Files episode about plastic surgery gone horribly awry. You'd think, though, after the second doctor went mad and butchered a patient, that they would put a hold on further surgeries. Apparently, though, that's not how things work in TV land. :P
