Yes, I'm still not going to be at brunch. Expect me back sometime in August.

However, the point of this is to remind people that

miseri has graciously taken over brunch duties for me in the interim. However, instead of posting announcements in his own LJ, he's decided to make said announcements in

tgi, which is a community I started way back in the day for Montreal friends (and friends who used to live in Montreal at the time and who have since moved away), but which never really got off the ground.

So keep your eyes on

tgi for all your brunch news, for the time being.

I'm taking a break from brunch, but

Just don't expect to hear from me much in the near future.

I looked at some of the other places for brunch. Couldn't find Cocktail Hawaii, but maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place.

Tutti Frutti seems fun, but not much less expensive than the Eggspectations. There's a place in the Faubourg that's less expensive but kind of dark, especially in winter.

Essentially, I'm stumped.

I have to confess also to a lack of inspiration and enthusiasm about this whole thing. I'm thinking of putting brunch on hiatus, for myself at least, for a while. Maybe a month or so, or perhaps until September, when things will start to pick up again. This doesn't mean people have to abandon brunch, but it does mean that I won't be there.

I think I had other things to say, but I've forgotten them now.

Okay, so this week brunch will take place as usual at 10:30am at the Eggspectations at the AMC Forum.

However, since a number of people have complained about prices (and I admit, I find them a bit steep too), I want suggestions for a different brunch venue. Obviously, this applies to the Montrealers on my friends list. Sorry to all you out-of-towners, but you lack the local knowledge to help me out, here. ;)

Here are the criteria:

A) Fairly central location to downtown, or really accessible by metro. I don't want people getting lost on the bus or anything. Brunch is not meant to be a hassle.

B) Reasonably inexpensive. $10 and above is what we spend at Eggspectations, so anywhere that can offer decent-quality food for less is welcome.

C) A reasonable amount of variety in the menu. Not everyone wants eggs and sausage for breakfast. :)

Basically, use your common sense when making suggestions.

Okay, so I've noticed lately that, my own absence aside, not many people have been showing up for brunch lately. This makes me wonder if, well, the brunches haven't served their God-given purpose, and whether it's not time to either call an end to it, or maybe just give brunch a makeover, or put it on hiatus for a while. Something.

Given that I'm not the only one this would affect, I decided to make a poll. Have at it!

Just FYI, I have been drafted into a barbecue at my uncle's country place on Saturday, so once again I will be unable to attend brunch.

Now, I hear no one turned up last week. Or very close to no one. I realize that this is All. About. Me. and everything, but come on, folks! The institution of brunch is meant to survive regardless of my presence! While it's nice to know that I am able to attract people on the sheer basis of my mind-bending charisma, it would be nice to know that all of you can still get together without me on Saturday mornings. ;)

Brunch is on, therefore! I just won't be there this week. Expect me back next Saturday. :)
