Work has decided in their infinite wisdowm to disallow the internet to everyone who doesn't need it. Needless to say, I fall into that category nicely. I only use the internet for actual work maybe once every two weeks.

*sigh*

I am sad.

This means no more updates from work, no more email (except my work address, which I'll get to in a minute), and most importantly, no more Bluebook posts.

*sigh*

Ironically enough, work has supplied me with an email address, so that I can get more work heaped on me by the managers.

If you really need to get in touch with me during the day, you can now email me at daphne dot brunelle at bnc dot ca. Congratulations, you now know my last name, if that was ever a concern for you. :P

Well, I guess this'll make an honest, if crazy, woman out of me. The internet has been the only thing keeping me sane at work these past few months.

*sigh*

Oh well. Nothing to be done about it. On the plus side, dear flist, at least you won't have to deal with my spam on a continual basis. :)

To console myself, I bought two litres of chocolate milk, and am now making a dent in my bottle of Bailey's.

Of course, linking "sanity" and "Internet" is generally questionable at best anyway. ^_^

True, dat.

However, if I finish off all the managers with a paintball marker, I swear to you no jury will convict me. :P

Well, rats

I'll miss it, if your posting frequency drops!

Unfortunately there is no "if" my friend. I'll have eight hours' less access per day to the internet, and my evenings are often kinda busy. So there will be fewer posts.

Well, I shall console myself with being entrusted with your Secret Identity. You have a lovely name and it fits you. Do try not to get too sozzled. I don't know how people can do that alone -- there just doesn't seem to be any percentage in it.

Nah, I'm no good at drinking alone. I have one glass and then I get bored. :)

A) Interestingly, I knew your last name already, but if someone had asked me what it was before this post, I wouldn't have been able to supply the answer. You are Phnee of the CFCs.

B) I, for one, will miss your during work posts. The help keep me entertained--particularly on my days off.

With any luck, I'll be changing jobs soon, not that I'll be able to post from work then except on breaks if I get internet access, but at least it won't be a job that makes me go out of my mind with boredom. :)

We have no internet access at our dispatch center. Some places allow access to a lot of the internet, some to only certain things necessary for the job and some not at all. (At least, in the US.)

Also, I just now thought of this. There's a yahoo email group called 911console. There are a lot of folks on there with a lot of knowledge and experience in dispatching. There are probably other folks from Canada, too. I haven't participated in a while, though.

Boo on fewer Phnee posts :( I like your bitter open letters ;D

But you could, in theory, work on posts for things like bluebook while your're at work and bored, and just actually sent them when you get home :)

Also, I wish I had bailey's and chocolate milk, but I am sadly out of both :p

Yeah, that was my thought. I'll be bringing my laptop to work for when I have time to write on my lunch breaks, anyway. :)

And boo to not having Bailey's. :(

If you have the spare cash, I'd suggest investing in a jump drive/flash drive/memory stick. They're really handy and portable, and a great way to transport and back stuff up the computers you are wring with have usb drives I pretty much just leave mine on my keychain and take it with me everywhere I go D: I do't think the smaller ones are *that* expensive, either. a cursory glance at the future shop web shows that the seem to range from about 30 to 129 for 512 megs to a gig of space.

Wouldn't there be a Mac/PC incompatibility issue?

Date: 2006-02-02 03:39 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] elanya.livejournal.com
The only incompatibility issues would come from the programs you are using to write in, ie. what kinds of files the wordprocessors on the different computers have. There shouldn't be any compatibility issues for using the dive in computers that use different OS's. They are just plug and play things :) It is like opening a burned cd, or saving it to a disc, or anything else like that, only tiny, portable, a zillion times more space, and ease of transfer, etc :D They really are great. All you need is a usb port :D

I'm a giant dork and have mirc saved on mine, so that I can use it from anywhere ;) Well, any computer that has a platform mIRC will run from, I suppose :o

Dude, that blows as much as when they decided to only give department heads internet access. Thankfully, though, someone's usually nice enough to stay logged in whenever I'm on night shift (although it doesn't count for squat if we have a power failure) ;)

If I didn't think they'd look at you oddly (non-roleplayers just don't get it), I'd advise you raise an objection on those grounds ;)

Well, it's nice to know that my bitching is entertaining, at least. ;)

Maybe I can write all my posts in advance and somehow get my computer at home to release them on a timed schedule. ;)
