Lost

So I finally caved and started watching Lost. Made it through the first season, and was impressed and curious enough to keep watching, although I wasn't thoroughly hooked.

I finished the second season last night, and now I'm toast. Absolute freaking toast. I want to go out RIGHTNOW and get the third season and find out what happens AAAH!

I wasn't expecting much, to be honest. Most TV shows these days tend to be pretty run-of-the mill when it comes to plot and writing. The plot of Lost was consistently good, and I enjoyed the characterization a great deal. The writing was okay, but not brilliant. This changed in Season 2, and for the better. The writing got really solid, the plot got more intricate, and I was impressed with some of the risks the show was willing to take.

I'm hoping they don't blow it in future seasons...

Season 3 sucks til almost the end (that's when they decided that they would end it after 6 seasons, so they got more focus.) Watch it, because there are things you need to know later, but don't give up on it because it's not so great. It definitely gets better. Season 4 is probably the best season yet. Season 5 has been pretty good, but you can tell they're setting everything up for the final season, so it's not as good as season 4 (but better than season 3.)
