So I finally made it to the end of my Very Important And Pivotal Story Arc for Beyond the Pale in its 78th installment. It also coincided nicely with my being all caught up on overdue installments. Next week, I start weekly installments again.

Tonight I learned two new dances, and as a result of the second one (a couples dance) my arm hurts. It's got a step in it called the "sugar foot" (don't ask, I don't know where the name comes from), which involves a twist at the same time as some fancy footwork (toe-step-twist-heel-cross-yikes!). That means you have to brace yourself very hard against your partner, pulling on your arms to maintain the proper tension, lest you fall over.

My conclusion? Ouch.

Still, it didn't hurt as much as dancing "Sweetheart Sway" on Friday (a different arm position, whose name I don't recall offhand), so I'm optimistic. Also, I'm very excited about the new dance they're going to be teaching on Thursday, as it's one I've wanted to learn for about a year now. Details to follow, if applicable.

Tomorrow I am meeting [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse at the rehearsal space to practice the fugue for "Moon Over Bourbon Street," which both of us still have to work out. I'm looking forward to having a nice little jam session with her (I nearly typoed that as "ham session" which amuses me no end), and we have discussed doing this every Wednesday, or as often as possible anyway, until the gig on April 22nd.

On a similar note, since she and I suffer (as far as I can tell) from similar motivational problems, I suggested that [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse and I use our Wednesday evenings after the gig to have writing jams. That way I'll be guaranteed to be writing at least once a week, which is a Good Thing. There's nothing I find quite as motivating as having someone in the same room also creating. There's all sorts of good energy in the air, and even if that fails, there's always my conscience to goad me on, saying things like "Well she's writing. Why are you sitting on your ass and not writing?"

Speaking of writing, I also got going with a whole bunch of new stuff for Bluebook this week. I am starting up a plot for the Ouranos Colony Base Staff.

After much noodling and bouncing of ideas back and forth with [livejournal.com profile] larabeegirl and [livejournal.com profile] joane that my "unusual seismic activity" is in fact being caused by the native inhabitants of the planet. So far I've envisioned them as vaguely Lovecraftian creatures of shadow and darkness, but not actually evil in the accepted sense of the word, since they're aliens with whom we'll eventually have to negotiate. They communicate primarily through vibrations in the earth (like, say, earthquakes) and pheromonal emissions at close range.

I'm very excited about this.

Not to mention, of course, that I have personal angst and drama in mind for my base character.

SG4 and SG15 are both on the brink of heading out on new missions. SG4 gets the cathartic mission: blowing shit up in the name of keeping the universe safe. SG15 are finally, finally getting a break from the Massive Angst And Character Death with a lighthearted mission based loosely on medieval Europe (and I do say loosely). It ought to be fun.

CS1 is unfortunately a little stalled due to Circumstances Beyond Our Controlâ„¢, but I think I can probably get things going again tomorrow. [livejournal.com profile] forthright, if by some miracle you're still reading through my BB ponderings, could you let your fantastic wife know that we're going to wrap up the joint post and keep going? We'll keep her in the loop as much as possible and bring her back in the minute her computer is up and running again. :)

And, last but not least, I'm going to try to resurrect the plot that [livejournal.com profile] shenlo and I had started way back when for the SGC Base Staff. Our poor little soldiers are still hearing voices, so we need to do something about that.

In other words, things are looking up for the most part.

Been meaning to bounce an idea off of you wrt your bluebook game. Its something that *I* would have fun GMing, but I don't know what you would think of it.

I don't know if this is a safe forum though, as I don't know if players in your game read your LJ.

Bluebook is not a GM-run game. It's more like collaborative storytelling. So, by all means share your idea! We'll all get to read it and play with it to our hearts' content. :)

Oh, okay then. I was watching an episode of Stargate Atlantis and they mentioned that matter is sent through the wormhole as packets of digitized data and that the wormhole at the other end puts you back together. If that's true, then someone with advanced enough technology could conceivably tap into the data stream at one end and manipulate it before the reassembly process. This could be for either good or sinister reasons:

1) Edit folks so they can live in a normally inhospitible environment. There could be a gate to a cholorine world but folks who step through get 'adjusted' on arrival or departure.

2) Folks could be edited so they have some new beliefs that correspond to what the builders prefer.

3) One end of a gate could be entirely virtual and running on an ancient computer. This could be done for entertainment purposes. (Step through and you're in a cartoon, or a super-hero world and gain super powers). It could also be used for training of soldiers under safe conditions. Anyone who 'dies' during the game gets ejected into the real world where they can dial themselves home. It could also be used for the development and testing of dangerous new technologies in a truely closed and separate environment.

Hi! My computer is, alas, not up and running again yet, but may be by Thursday. Our friend [livejournal.com profile] n0deal has taken it home after many hours of valiant slaving over it here, to try and resurrect it in greater comfort. Fortunately, it seems like he managed to transfer all my personal files and emails to Steve's laptop, so I'm not *totally* screwed :) Please feel free to finish up the post without me, though - I'm too tired to write anything tonight, for sure, and it's unlikely I'll get a chance to use Steve's computer tomorrow until late evening (after 11pm, if at all) since he has work during the day and then a game himself in the evening. Beru will of course go off with Raj to carry out their assignment, and hopefully I'll be back in action in time to help out with that post. Thanks for being so patient! :)

Love to! What day? If Saturday, I'll only be able to come around mid-afternoon, due to band practice.

Does 'Mu need a lift?

Have pinged accordingly. Jan has just reminded me that we are florist-visiting Saturday afternoon, so I wouldn't be able to get to the Godforsaken Howling Wilderness before evening.

Right! *smacks self in forehead*

This is what happens when I don't write things down.

Okay, after the florist it is, then.
