Went to see Watchmen with a bunch of people last night. Time for LJ-user sightings! There was [livejournal.com profile] jteethy, [livejournal.com profile] karine, [livejournal.com profile] adamofeden, [livejournal.com profile] luvenditti, [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse, [livejournal.com profile] chibipunkdemon and Phil-who-hasn't-got-an-LJ. It was really nice seeing all my friends, many of whom I hadn't seen since Capricornucopia on January 10th. Eesh. Where does the time go?

The movie was fun, but suffered from inadequate writing, I think. It also ended about four times. Possibly five. It was very pretty, though some of the effects were... odd. I haven't read the graphic novel, but I understand that the movie modernized a bunch of things, and then lovingly re-created others the same way, which was jarring for me: some of the gizmos looked wildly out of place. The same went for the costumes.

Mild plot spoilers behind the cut )

The movie was also horrifically violent. I think I may have damaged poor Phil's hearing permanently with my squeaks of horror. There's only so many instances of bones splintering through skin and the like that I can take. I mean, come on! It's not necessary to go into that much gory detail. I get it, already! Gah.

In short, it was entertaining, but had I known what it was I would have waited to see it on video.

Also, between the movie and moving the clocks forward, I only got three hours of sleep last night. I am now Cranky!Cat.

I have too much stuff to do, and not enough time. Or, rather, I might have enough time if the Overtime Fairy wasn't sucking me dry.

Here's what I'd be doing, ideally, if I had all the time I wanted (and the attendant energy):

-writing for at least an hour a day;
-going to the gym a minimum of four times a week;
-prepping my seeds for the garden (again);
-cooking in bulk for the next little while;
-grocery shopping;
-doing some housecleaning;
-slowly acquiring furniture so my guests have somewhere to sleep when they come in August;
-visiting my parents once a week;
-seeing my friends more than once every two months.

Here's what I've managed:

-going to the gym twice a week (I started ten days ago, so it's not too bad);
-seeing some of my friends once in the past two months;
-doing the dishes;
-doing a couple of loads of laundry as needed.

...

That's it. The rest has all fallen by the wayside due to work. *sigh*

If I were a little more brutal with myself, I could probably get more done in my days. As it is, I waste lots of hours on sleeping, go figure. Also, instead of taking an hour in the evenings to unwind with the X-Files or some other TV show, I could probably use it to clean or do something else equally productive, but to be honest these days I just don't have the energy or inclination.

Four more months of this. Then, in theory, all the n00bs will be here and trained. Four more months...

I am very, very bored. I am on the stand-alone computer at work, which means I can check my friends pages and suchlike.

I have therefore been fussing with LJ, and have re-vamped my other two LJs to the current S2 style, in particular [livejournal.com profile] secret_history, which is no longer entirely BLACKDOOMEGADS, but a pale hue which is doubtless more restful to the eye.

Sadly, it's Sunday, which means everyone is off doing happy weekend things, and not providing me with entertainment. Bored cat is therefore bored.

My co-worker, Big!Bear, brought a few movies, including No Country For Old Men which was both depressing and narratively unsatisfying. Did I mention that I hate detectives and police officers who seem incapable of doing their jobs? Yeah. In spades.

He also brought There Will Be Blood and 3:10 to Yuma. I've seen the latter and know it's highly enjoyable, but I'm curious about the former. We shall see...
