A little better

I succumbed to the tired and went to bed around 19:00, read for a while, then fell asleep about half an hour later. It doesn't help that I've started reading Kushiel's Chosen, which has me completely riveted. I feel as though I'm eight years old again, pleading with my mother to let me read "just one more chapter" before bed, except that now I have to lay down the law myself. Of course, at one point my eyes just wouldn't stay open, which helped in my resolve to go to bed early.

I got a bit of tidying done when I got up this morning, and even did some reading too. Part work and part play. I still have a good deal of tidying to do before ai731 gets here, even if she never sets foot in the house. For one, it needs to be done, and for another thing, those cat pans aren't going to clean themselves. If I don't clean them, then I'm pretty much guaranteed to find some interesting "presents" left elsewhere in the place, and who could blame the cats for that?

In the meantime, I'm going to make coffee and try to unglue myself from the futon. I have about two hours before we're off to the seed exchange, which should be plenty of time to do a minimal clean-up, even if I don't feel like doing it. It's times like this when I really wish that cleaning got done magically, all by itself.

Seeds!

I have more seeds than I know what to do with. In fact, I have more seeds than I have seed-storage space! ACK! Must order more pochettes from Lee Valley. Oh noes, I have to make a Lee Valley order. Whatever shall I do? :P

There will be a detailed post about seeds later. For now, I am squeeing.

I have a very annoying latent headache. I'm going to go medicate it, and then when I feel better I will start reading instructions on packets and planting seeds. Whee!

Seeds, redux

Okay, I'm about 75% done, and the other 25% will have to wait until I actually have the herb seeds that I want.

Right now I have planted three separate container-things of seeds. This is partially for my own records, so don't worry if you're bored and want to skip this entry. :)

This is nice...

I am surrounded by sleeping cats. Pan-Pan is on his back with his paws in the air, turned inward so that his toes are almost touching: it's very cute, and very undignified. Gretzky is snoring. George is dead to the world, curled up in a ball. Smudge is the only one awake, sitting on the cat tree across the room.

I've been listening to Allegri's "Miserere" and browsing for new icons in iconsbycurtana. I now have 190 slots out of 195 filled. I am still missing a Stargate icon, because sadly she isn't part of that particular fandom. Anyone out there know of someone talented who does Stargate icons? Either SG1 or Atlantis, I'm not fussy. Both would be good, but I'll settle for either/or.

I think I may disturb this idyllic scene and go to my FLVS to see if they have the last two discs of BSG, and if they don't I may rent the LoTR trilogy and have a week-long marathon for myself. Heck, I might do that anyway.

When I get back I'll pour myself a glass of something alcoholic, and settle in with the cats to watch TV. The stupid latent headache won't quite go away, and I think I may call it an early-ish night, no matter what.

It's been a good weekend. Too short, as usual, but productive and fun: I got a fair bit of cleaning done, saw some friends, went to the seed exchange, and got the garden started. On the whole, I'm quite pleased. Sure, I could have gotten more done if I'd tried harder, but I still did pretty well.

Thwarted

The FLVS had BSG, after what seemed an interminable wait. Unfortunately, they were missing two of the three LoTR movies. Blast.

So I got "Stargate: Continuum" instead, which looks like a two-part episode pretending to be a movie. "Oh noes! We have to go back in time to save continuity! Or fix a quantum paradox, or something... whatever. Uh, I mean: oh noes!"

Still, it's Stargate, so I'm not complaining too hard. ;)
