Am futzing with LJ, putting in new userpics, as well as a new bio the other day. Put in one icon the other day for queer issues which I rather like. Plain and simple. Rather like my gaming icon, which you'll only recognise if you're familiar with the World of Darkness, and the Technocracy in particular. In other words, a gaming geek.

I'm absurdly proud of 'em. Heh.

Got my hair cut yesterday, and it's now shorter than it's ever been in my entire life. The only way it could get shorter, I think, is if I shaved it. My mother thinks it's "sweet." She also commented that every time I've gone to the hairdresser in the past year, my hair has gotten shorter. She's right, of course.

I think there's something symbolic here. I don't know what I'm trying to get rid of when I tell them to cut off my hair, but there's certainly something I'm trying to exorcise. I kept dreaming last night that my hair had grown back, like in the first book of Harry Potter when his Aunt Petunia cut all his hair off and it magically grew back overnight. *shrug* There's definitely something going on there. Maybe a reverse Samson effect. Who knows?

I need to take a shower. The hairdressers at the salon are fantastic in terms of cutting my hair, but they love putting goop in it (mousse in this case) which makes it stick up in weird ways if I sleep in it, which I did. I didn't want to take a shower last night, because it was really cold.

Incidentally, I discovered why it was so cold in my apartment, apart from the fact that a number of my double windows are stuck open (thanks to my Idiot!Landlord who painted them open a while back). The thermostats in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were on OFF. So there was no heating in there at ALL. I turned on the thermostat in the bedroom, but left the others off. It did make a world of difference during the night, let me tell you. I was no longer a Phneesicle this morning, which was a refreshing change. :P

*sigh*

All these things you just don't think about in summer. Last winter was so mild, I guess I just didn't notice those thermostats at all because I didn't need them. Or maybe I just forgot about them this summer because it was so bloody hot! *grr*

"The essential paradigm of cyberspace is creating partially situated identities out of actual or potential social reality in terms of canonical forms of human contact, thus renormalizing the phenomenology of narrative space and requiring the naturalization of the intersubjective cognitive strategy, and thereby resolving the dialectics of metaphorical thoughts, each problematic to the other, collectively redefining and reifying the paradigm of the parable of the model of the metaphor."

How to deconstruct almost anything. :)

"Another minor point, by the way, is that we don't say that we deconstruct the text but that the text deconstructs itself. This way it looks less like we are making things up. "

*sniggergigglesnort*

This was one of the major problems I had while completing my degree. It's not to say I didn't enjoy doing all this, but I often wondered who in hell other than my profs would know what the f--- I was talking about. ^_-

V. amusing stuff. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] joane!

People keep posting about how it's cold out. Yep. Factoring in wind chill, it's somewhere around -41 Celsius out there. Don't know what that is in Fahrenheit. Don't much care, either. :)

I don't feel much like moving, today. I feel like curling up here in my apartment with my cats and a very large cup of tea and my Dire Straights album. I actually have work to do, but I have decided to work on it over the weekend, for once.

It's nearly four o'clock, and given that I have a game at 6:00, I should probably be looking for my notes and character sheet and dice, but have I mentioned that I don't feel like moving?

I don't think I'm actually depressed or anything. I like the cold, but my apartment is *really* cold thanks to the whole thermostat/window situation, and so I've gone kind of numb. Maybe I should go make that tea...

But I will say it again: blackcurrant tea is the nectar of the gods, especially on a cold day.

This is my everything tea: it comforts me when I'm sick, relaxes me when I'm stressed, and makes me feel even better when I'm feeling good. I love this tea. It has a nice aroma, but isn't *too* perfumed. It's slightly fruity, but not overly sweet. It goes well with milk and sugar, but can be taken without it as well. It can also be drunk with a slice of lemon.

In fact, it's wonderfully versatile, as teas go.

Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

:::drinks her tea contentedly:::
