Am futzing with LJ, putting in new userpics, as well as a new bio the other day. Put in one icon the other day for queer issues which I rather like. Plain and simple. Rather like my gaming icon, which you'll only recognise if you're familiar with the World of Darkness, and the Technocracy in particular. In other words, a gaming geek.

I'm absurdly proud of 'em. Heh.

Got my hair cut yesterday, and it's now shorter than it's ever been in my entire life. The only way it could get shorter, I think, is if I shaved it. My mother thinks it's "sweet." She also commented that every time I've gone to the hairdresser in the past year, my hair has gotten shorter. She's right, of course.

I think there's something symbolic here. I don't know what I'm trying to get rid of when I tell them to cut off my hair, but there's certainly something I'm trying to exorcise. I kept dreaming last night that my hair had grown back, like in the first book of Harry Potter when his Aunt Petunia cut all his hair off and it magically grew back overnight. *shrug* There's definitely something going on there. Maybe a reverse Samson effect. Who knows?

I need to take a shower. The hairdressers at the salon are fantastic in terms of cutting my hair, but they love putting goop in it (mousse in this case) which makes it stick up in weird ways if I sleep in it, which I did. I didn't want to take a shower last night, because it was really cold.

Incidentally, I discovered why it was so cold in my apartment, apart from the fact that a number of my double windows are stuck open (thanks to my Idiot!Landlord who painted them open a while back). The thermostats in the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were on OFF. So there was no heating in there at ALL. I turned on the thermostat in the bedroom, but left the others off. It did make a world of difference during the night, let me tell you. I was no longer a Phneesicle this morning, which was a refreshing change. :P

*sigh*

All these things you just don't think about in summer. Last winter was so mild, I guess I just didn't notice those thermostats at all because I didn't need them. Or maybe I just forgot about them this summer because it was so bloody hot! *grr*

Awww, what did the poor technocracy ever do to you? MiBs just need some hugs, really ^-^

Heh. I rather like the MiBs, actually. [livejournal.com profile] firewillow and I are playing some right now in [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave's game. [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave is the original Technocracy lover, though. Talk to him if you want to hear what the Technocracy is *really* all about. :)

I played in a technocracy game once, at a con, and I was instantly hooked. My first experience wioth Mage, even, which is still my favourite WW game.

I write a series of stories for a MiB character in an online rpg/wrotong group for liek, a good five years. He was pretty awesome. I'd love to have been able to play a real technocrat campaign...

At one point I'd been toying with the idea of running something online (it was all very nebulous, as I'm not a very experienced GM,), and one of the possibilities was Mage, which I rather like, especially as it's very flexible and allows for people to get quite carried away with their imaginations. :)

It's nice to see that there's still a fair bit of interest in Mage out there. A lot of the people I know around here IRL don't like Mage precisely because there aren't any defined rules about what you can and can't do with Magic apart from the Spheres.

Maybe a reverse Samson effect.

Or you could just be lazy and/or hopeless with dealing with long hair like yours truly. That's why I got all mine lopped off :)

Actually, that's the only thing I miss about having long hair: being able to plait and braid it and other nonsense. I loved being able to make braids. :)

I don't miss the look, though. I didn't look very nice with long hair. It just didn't suit me all that well. *shrug* Oh well. :)

Did you have the same problem of long hair making your face look fat? Of course, I've already got a fat face to begin with, but long hair did *not* help.

I can't say it made much of a difference for me. Then again, I used to hide behind my hair a lot, so I'm not sure I can really answer your question. I know it all but made my neck disappear, though. ^_-

I thought you looked fine with long hair. *shrugs*

Hair: Maybe it's not get rid of, so much as change. Sometimes the simplest answers are the right ones. ;) Then again, maybe you're having an "Opération: Beurre de Pinottes" flashback...

Your windows are painted open? Yikes! I hope you aren't stuck with the bill for the heating then...

Hmm... maybe I wasn't too clear. They're double windows, and the inner windows are painted open. I can close the outer ones. My apartment isn't actually getting blasts of cold air or anything, but it's not very warm in here. ;)

The "George (Tongue)" icon roxors my soxors, even if that's probably not a new one.

Well, it's fairly recent. Somewhere in the last two weeks, that's for sure. :)

I love my Georgie. He's my baby. He's a pain in the behind a lot of the time, but he's my baby nonetheless. ;)

Although not pleasantly happy and cheerful, can I say how much I enjoy your bio? I love your wording and phrasing. (Hopefully when I'm older I'll write elequently as well)

Heh. Thanks. Was feeling a wee bit cynical when I wrote it, but it suits me just fine for now. :)

Cynical is good. Check out underpower.non-essential.com. You might enjoy "Mr. Cynical"!!
