The party went really well. Got home at 3:30 am. I think Miranda liked her presents. :)
angelovernh: yes, rose quartz represents happiness and love and other good stuff for me. Bath bombs are large balls (about the size of a softball) made of baking soda and scented goodness that you put in the bath. They fizz and make your bath smell nice and do all sorts of aromatherapy goodness.
Saw the Parental Units today, and then I went to see Miranda who wanted to show me the Sims she has on her computer. She said she'd make a Sim out of me once we get a good head shot of me. *silly happy grin*
Miranda has a new student living with her for at least three months now, and she was there, which meant that we mostly had to include her in the conversation, which was kind of hard given that I found the poor girl remarkably boring. Oh well. I'm sure we'll find something to talk about. Actually, we were able to talk tattoos and stuff like that, so it's not too bad. She's from Newfoundland, has four tattoos and ten piercings and dreadlocks which are died black with yellow and red ends. She's also reed-thin and is a very picky eater. No fruits, no vegetables, almost no milk products (no yoghurt or butter and only specific types of cheese), very few sweet things. Basically she eats bread, pasta, juice, Mello Yello (blech, vomit) and Pepsi. She doesn't like pudding, either. Sheesh.
Going there tomorrow again to watch Six Feet Under. *bouncy* I think the student (Renée) will be joining us, but I suppose I can live with that.
I'm giving myself until the end of the month as a grace period before asking Miranda out on an official date. I think going there every Sunday for Six Feet Under is good, because it'll give use time to confirm that we really get along and have many things in common. I'm also going to invite her here for dinner a few times (to reciprocate invitations and what have you, so that she's not the only one putting herself out in all this) and I'll be seeing her on Wednesdays for Gaming Night™ which she has with a bunch of friends. That ought to be fun. :) I'm trying to take it slow with this, because I tend to rush blindly into things with great enthusiasm about the idea rather than assessing the situation and seeing if it's realistic.
For one, Miranda does seem to be getting over a long-distance relationship that went kind of sour not too long ago, so I don't know if she feels ready for anything yet.
For another, I really want to be her friend, regardless of whether this works out. So I'm going to damned well be friends with her first. I think that if the whole dating thing doesn't work out, it would be a shame to not have her around as a friend.
So, once I've laid the groundwork, I will ask her out at the end of September, if the timing seems right. You know, if there's a sudden death or something, I won't pick that moment to ask her to the movies. ;)
Actually, I'm more than a little nervous about this because Miranda has made *no* outward sign of being even remotely interested. Now, I'm not very good at reading this particular aspect of people, I grant you, and I don't think she's the flirty type, but still. Eep! O_O I just don't want to rush into this now, so soon after I've met her. I think she may be the type (like me, sort of) who needs to build solid foundations first. (I've tried the no foundation thing, and wow did it not work)
So yeah. :::wibble:::
Going to bed now.
