This is me not caring...
May. 26th, 2003 11:01 amI have ceased to care about my work. Anyone who knows me at all will know that this is a BAD SIGN.
This is what happened shortly before I had a complete nervous breakdown at university. I simply stopped caring enough to try.
Right now, I don't care if they fire me. I'm just going through the motions.
I know a lot of you think that I'm being a "job snob" about this, that I think I'm too good for this work or what have you, but I'd like to flatter myself that by thinking that it's not that.
No, really.
I mean, how many of you would stick with a job that you find so stressful you're literally sick to your stomach between two and four times a week? Getting up in the morning and having my first reflex be to throw up, or having to put myself on "not ready" at work to puke into my trash can because I'm so stressed is not my idea of a good time.
This is what made me throw up blood in January. I'm not sure it was the stupid Norwalk virus, since the doctors said I had none of the right symptoms.
Since I've continued to be sick on and off since then (with general improvement since I've been taking my iron pills), I'm thinking it might be just the job that's wrecking my health.
I'm applying to Chapters on Wednesday. It may be minimum wage, but at least I won't be on the phone all day long, and there'll be books involved.
I'm definitely also cancelling my cell phone account when I leave Bell Mobility. I don't use the cell phone enough to justify having one, unless I switch to prepaid, and that's kind of silly.
