So I have been neglecting this LJ for a bit (hah!), and today I figured I would go and poke at my flist and see what's what.

There are a few new folk who have joined from the SPN fandom (hi guys! Hope you're not too bored yet!).

There are also a handful of people I have never heard of and whose LJs seem like the most random of random things ever. One is clearly a commercial ploy to get me to buy "haute-couture" children's clothes (hah! For one, their definition of "haute-couture" is not my definition, let me tell you, and if you know anything about my mother you'll know that I am right and they are wrong). The rest? I have NO IDEA.

One appears to be some creative writing LJ based on the Tarot. I think. I confess that I didn't read much past the first entry. Another is from a 16-year-old girl with only one post, and I appear to be the ONLY person she lists as a friend. O_O

Basically, WTF?

Anyway, if you're new here, how about giving me a wave? I'd like to know who you are and why you're here. Seems like common courtesy to me. It's not like there's anything in this LJ apart from my semi-neurotic rambling and the occasional letter from my mother.

Strange mix. I had the same thing happen with my journal with regard to having someone add me as an only friend. She posts once every six months and it's typically one or two lines of foreign language.

I've been getting the same thing.

They always come during the day when I can't do anything on LJ and I've been totally forgetting to check them out.

Personally, the random looking ones, I lean on blocking them unless they say something, ANYTHING.

Meh, whatever. I don't block them, I just ignore 'em. I am Jack's total lack of caring. ;)

Yes, I came over by way of SPN. Though, I think you know who I am by now, uh, if you don't - feel free to ask me any questions!

I suspected that you did, but I was compelled to follow your command nonetheless. *return-a-smish*

I'm not new, but I'll wave anyways so that you know I'm still alive and reading. :)

I came via SPN. *waves* And I haven't uploaded SPN icons yet, so, um, have a goalie :)

Woo, goalie!

I think I friended you first, babe. ;)

I'm glad that these friends have spoken up, because I was starting to feel a little passed over by random-frienders. Hell, I even have "friending everyone who steals this interest" listed as one of my interests (though it seems to generate a little bit of self-regulation, as there don't seem to be very many people who are willing to risk it becoming a popular interest and making their flist completely unmanageable; in fact, I've had it for a few years now, and it's still only been stolen by one person).

Hee! Don't feel too bad. I found that handful of "unknowns" a little insulting, really. I mean, am I just here to pad their flist numbers, or what? :P

See, I couldn't rightly be insulted by something like that; I have a filter on my flist for people whose posts I actually read, another for people who I actually let read my locked posts, and then a whole bunch of people on the list who are there either to conceal who's actually read/permitted, or because removing them would involve teh drahmaz! (Oh, and some of them are there because they removed me in an act of teh drahmaz! but I thought it'd be more bothersome to leave them on my flist-but-not-really).

Mainly though, I set it up in response to seeing how many people had to put massive "please don't drahma me" notices on their "I'm about to cull my flist" posts, and still wound up with piles of teh drahma! It made me feel all special to know that I could cull in secret on account of having teh clev4r :)

(and then I added that "friending everyone who steals this interest" interest, and figured that it'd be too risky to keep that on there and have an honest flist).

I am not all that new, but hi!

I had a guy add me who was clearly pimping his books and such. I said, "This is my personal journal, I only add people I'd interact with, so if all you're doing is amassing numbers for SEO, you stop it. I'm not adding you"
He says fine, that wasn't his intent.
Well here it's been several months and NO interaction, all of his posts are doofy promo crap. (You know when you friend someone, you boost their blog's relevance- particularly if their blog name is their business name. Anytime someone google's their name, everyone who has friended them shows up because their blog/business name is on your friends list.)

Hi again!

I know you're not new, and I stole you from [livejournal.com profile] bodhifox (or, well, we might be timesharing you), so all is well in that department. :)

I have been SHIT at commenting on your entries, but I've been reading them all.

I suppose I'm new.

Came by way of the Montreal community cause you seemed cool, and appear to share alot of interests with me.

Plus, you've got icons from Slings and Arrows, which is one of my favorite things ever. To the extent that I put off watching the final episode for about 10 months because I didn't want it to be over.
