I decided to wear a skirt to work today. I can count the number of times a year I do this on the fingers of one hand.

I realized on my way to the metro why I don't do this more often. Because I'm wearing a long skirt, I had to don a pair of heels (more of a wedge, really), and I am NOT used to walking in them. My poor feet require more arch support than these shoes provide. Owie.

Still I feel all swishy and swirly in my long skirt, and it's kind of fun. :)

This is why wearing sneakers or comfy flats to work while carrying the wedges in one's bag is sometimes done.

(Yeah, I don't do it, either.)

This solution occurred to me when I was already too far to go back home and make it to work on time.

*sigh*

You need flats that look good with a skirt. So do I ;)

OOOhhh, would love to see a picture of that *fluffs your skirt as you twirl* I don't do high heels very well either, so I found a pair of fairly flat sandals that work well with jeans or a skirt. You likely have the same issue I do, with similarly shaped feet...well proportioned and not squished feet, finding something that doesn't make your toes look like they're squirting out like little sausages.

See?

They won't do for a gown or formal dress, but a long witchy skirt would go well ;)

Pourquoi?!? Was the skirt so long that it'd drag on the ground and get snagged under your feet otherwise? Would your workplace take issue with your pairing the skirt with e.g. combat boots (this example being chosen knowing full well where you work). Do you simply not own any matching flats?

Yes, this. I am not exactly a slave to fashion. I find combat boots far too warm for the office.

Sounds like you need to move the hem up on your skirt a little so that you can be all girly and swooshy without having to put your back out.

Moral decay.

And while you're on the job of raising hemlines, don't forget to take a turtleneck that covers your face and roll it down to merely cover your neck.
