Lost: Chronicles of the Perpetually Confused

So I'm about halfway through Season 4, and I am way beyond confused. Every time I think they've reached the height of how much crack the writers can smoke, they turn around and do something even more screwed up.

At this point, I'm just praying that it'll start making sense again in Season 5. I'm just scratching my head constantly now. There are at least three different groups in play now, possibly four, everyone is on different sides and shifts alliances so readily that I can't begin to keep track, and on top of it all now it's impossible to tell what's a flashback and what's a flash-forward.

I liked the first couple seasons, but at some point in season 3 I realized it wasn't going anywhere except around in circles and drifted off to other things. From all I've been hearing I'm glad I did.

When the latest season started, I was avidly watching every week, as I had during Season 5. But I think the quality of crack the writers have been smoking has seriously dropped off, and the show was making less sense than ever. I stopped watching almost completely in mid-season.

I did catch the last half of tonight's episode and it looks like they're at least trying to give the show some direction after a lot of seriously random bouncing around earlier on. I'm hoping Season 7, next year, will be more coherent.

Oops -- Season 5 is the current season. I meant to say I'd been avidly watching Season 4; and next year is Season 6. I think.

I watched it for most of the first season, and then only every now and again (mostly for the eye candy) after until last year and this when I've watched it all. I can't wait, in fact, to get home tonight and watch the season finale. (I taped it and went to bed at like 8:30)

I haven't watched any Lost, but from reading your description, I can't help but wonder whether the producers/writers were intentionally doing that so that their viewers would be as lost as the characters in the show.
