I've had this vague obsession in mind since I started working for the RCMP. I have visions of hanging this on one of my walls. :)

I have no idea if that's a reasonable price or not, but at least the kit comes complete.

We shall see.

*squee* That's cool! Definitely a reasonable price for a kit, especially one as detailed as that - looks like there are a lot of different colors of floss involved. Much shiny, indeed :-)

...and now I want to track down one of my in-progress projects, and start stitching again...

Cross stitch is the easiest thing in the world-- the hardest part is keeping track of your place in the diagram.

I love the magnetic board and magnets for that.

Yes, magnets. Something like this. I know it says it's for knitting, but I think knitting stole it from cross stitch. I can get one at any craft store here, they just don't always have the fancy folder with it. It makes it so much easier to keep track of where you are in the pattern.

Yes, cross stitch is easy, but something less complex would give you practice and confidence.

Yep. If I have time I think I'll go pick up a couple of beginner patterns (there's a local shop near my work) and try my hand at those first.

Thanks for the suggestion!

I'm in agreement with everyone here. The only other question I had is one that may only be answered if and when you buy the kit. I'm assuming that the Aida is black??

Also, totally agree with [livejournal.com profile] taxlady. Start small and work your way up. I haven't touched cross-stitch for a while and I am currently failing at a 16x20 pattern for my brother.
