Dear flist,

As part of my 101 Things in 1001 Days project, I am trying to broaden my cooking horizons. So for the next three months, the plan is to cook a "new" and "exotic" dish every week.

I could always go hunt down recipes on the internet, but I find that my experience is always best when I get recommendations from my friends.

So, dear flist, do you have any fun/new/exciting recipes that I could try? My regular culinary experience is North American/French Canadian, with occasional forays into cooking with curry and various stir-fries. What can you suggest that will make me break out of my culinary rut? (Dish names are good, and bonus points if you can provide the actual recipe)

Okay, I don't have a dutch oven (yet), but I'm going to post this recipe here for my own benefit, for future reference. I'm copying it (bad Phnee!) from the NYT page, because the website is being wonky with me. Many props to [livejournal.com profile] urban_homestead for pointing her readers in the right direction. :)

One day, when I have the right kind of pot, I will make this bread, which looks very yummy:

Okay, flist: I need a good but simple chili recipe. Help?

Okay, LJ folks. I need a kick-ass banana bread recipe. I know you all like banana bread, and I know many of you must have good recipes.

I have five medium-sized bananas sitting on my kitchen counter, and they're going to turn gooshy soon, so I'm going to make banana bread. (Hey, they were on sale at 19 cents a pound, how could I resist? I've already eaten three)

Anyway, recipes ho! :)
