So the herb garden I started last Thursday is already starting to sprout!

I am very excited, as I wasn't expecting anything for at least another few days, and maybe not until next week. So far the basil, the oregano, the marjoram, and the thyme are all poking through the earth. The basil in particular is nearly half a centimeter high. The rosemary and the mint are being shy, but given that the packet says that germination can take anywhere from seven to twenty-one days, I'm not worried yet. The others are ahead of schedule, after all.

The small pot of basil that Anik gave me last Sunday has more than tripled in size, and one of the spider plants is doing remarkably well. The other spider plant is less happy: it was a re-pot, and is kind of droopy, though it doesn't appear to be dying. I'm hoping it's just some form of transplant stress, and that it'll recover soon. I don't want to over water it, but I'm not sure what else to do to make it happy.

I also made a couple of new icons, including this one for when I'll be doing garden-y nature-y stuff. :)

My plans for cleaning and grocery shopping yesterday were thoroughly waylaid by the opportunity to see my friend April, who is up visiting from Albuquerque. I toddled off on the bus and spent the afternoon and evening with her and a bunch of other friends (most of whom don't have LJs), where we caught up and played a rousing game of Arkham Horror. I can't say I like the game: I find it long, confusing, and full of fiddly tokens that constantly need adjusting.

That being said, we had a great time. I got to see [livejournal.com profile] aislingtheach, and Anik and Nigel, Thieu Thuy and Pierre-Hughes, as well as [livejournal.com profile] conscioussoul, all of whom I last saw, oh, almost a year ago. It was good to catch up. I missed Anik and Nigel's wedding because I was in Paris, and it's nice to see them happy, especially in their new digs, which are lovely.

Anik gave me two spider plants and a basil plant to take home with me, and so my cunning plan to fill the apartment with greenery continues apace. I just hope the cats don't love the spider plants to death the way they did last time.

I got home very, very late. I suppose I shouldn't mind too much, as that ought to help me flip my sleep schedule around for the week.

Today I am meeting [livejournal.com profile] miseri, [livejournal.com profile] sorceror and [livejournal.com profile] tcaptain for lunch, and after that I will be launching myself back into my attempt at cleaning. I'm going into work an hour early tonight as a favour to a co-worker, and she'll be staying an hour later on Wednesday to repay the favour, but it does mean I have to plan my day a little more carefully.

I need to do my cleaning, buy food for the week, and get a nap in sometime today.

Right. Off to start my morning properly.

Busy week

My supervisor (well, technically not my supervisor, but one of the supervisors) just made me log out of my post so that Psycho!Blonde can log in there. I wanted to work admin today, and she came in late, which meant I was all logged in, well-ensconced and in my start-the-day routine. I am now in a surly mood, because I hate having my morning routine disrupted, especially because the supervisor thinks we don't "rotate" enough between positions. Hell, the damn positions are ALL interchangeable, except Admin, which has all the faxes and so forth. Couldn't this have waited until tomorrow?

Gnarr.

Anyway, we've had a busy week. Eight raids over two days, including the arrest of Lacroix (of Norbourg fame) on additional charges of fraud. Let's hope this time he gets more than a slap on the wrist. I missed getting to see him brought in in handcuffs, which makes me a little sad. ;) Things are hopping along, in other words.

I bought myself an ivy plant to prettify my bedroom, and as a reward to myself for all the cleaning I've been doing. In the past two years or so I've become much more responsible about the care and feeding of my plant life, and so I have allowed myself the purchase of a new one to keep my three current ones company. I debated on whether to get a spider-plant, but given the fate of my last one (Gretzky loved it to death, literally), I opted against it. It is a pretty ivy plant, and I am glad to have gotten it.

I also took a nap at around 16:00, awoke at 19:00 long enough to feed the cats and give George his penultimate pill, puttered for less than an hour, and ended up going back to bed. I am feeling more rested this morning, in spite of an odd dream in which I went back to Paris with my father (I was on some sort of mission, but I can't remember much more than the fact that it was something cloak-and-dagger-esque) and that my father ended up getting in a fight with a gang of young Italian men in their twenties, who beat him up before I was able to get him out of danger. Not a restful dream, to be sure, but it wasn't quite a nightmare, either.

On the plus side, the fact that I remember that dream must mean I'm more rested than I was.

Okay. Off to face my day.
