Not dead, just busy

I'm at work (shocking, I know), and have twelve hours ahead of me thanks to some scheduling glitches. Fourteen and a half hours of work was not what I had in mind today, but at least I'll be going home earlier tomorrow to compensate.
I'm on night shift all next week, too, and then my schedule has been changed for yet more night shifts two weeks from now (and a full weekend of overtime). I have decided to take all my overtime in extra time off. That way when the time comes I shall be able to take a vacation. Yay!
I owe a bunch of people emails and hellos and updates, and if things are quiet today I might be able to do a bit of LJ updating if nothing else. Mind you, I also have a bunch of, y'know, actual work to do, so that will naturally come first.
I have done a lot of cleaning in the past two days. I love my new vacuum with much love (it was a birthday present), and indeed I love it as much as the new Scooba, which continues to be worth its weight in gold. Turns out that the Scooba can't be heard downstairs while it's working, which is a good thing: I can now wash floors with impunity at 3am if I want to. ;)
Over the next week I'm hoping to get rid of a bunch of clutter that I'm not using. Does anyone know what the protocol is for giving things to the Salvation Army in Montreal? Are they finicky about what they get, does it have to be packaged somehow, or can I just dump a bunch of stuff on their doorstep? I have given up on Freecycle temporarily, since many folks on there appear to be unreliable for picking up stuff.
I also caught up with an old university friend last night, which was a welcome change. We had dinner at Scores, and laughed so hard my stomach still hurts this morning. I met her husband and her two cats later, too, and generally a good time was had by all. Unfortunately, I also got home really late as a result, and now I am Very Tired.
Still, it's looking to be a good day. I'm here with one of the operators I like, so it should work out well.
