Things are busy.

I've emailed/phoned/messaged the people I need to get in touch with this morning. This is progress.

The apartment is reasonably clean. At least, if someone were to walk in (which happened Sunday), I'm not completely humiliated by the fact that it's a disaster. I also took the plunge and hired someone, who will be coming in on Tuesday morning for four hours. I figure it's worth the expense.

I've had a low-grade headache all morning. Nothing that remotely prevents me from getting through my day, but it's there, persistent and annoying. I think I'll have to cave and take something for it before going to work.

I'm stupidly tired. I've been getting up really early every day, around 6 or 7am, and since I routinely get to bed after midnight, this isn't doing anything for my mood or energy levels.

I spent the entire weekend running around. Had a fun morning on Saturday with [livejournal.com profile] luvenditti and [livejournal.com profile] miseri, doing the cooking thing. He's written about it more eloquently than I can at the moment. The afternoon was spent at [livejournal.com profile] karine's new place to celebrate her birthday. Caught up with about thirty friends there, and saw Mathieu and Samuel, whom I hadn't seen in a while. Samuel has grown about a thousand inches and is incredibly active and determined to get around on his own. It was impressive to see.

Saturday night I had dinner with most of my coworkers. Since I was dependent on them for a lift home I didn't get to bed until 3am, and then I had to be up again quite early to continue cleaning.

Sunday M. came by for our second date. I took her to see the Tam-Tams on Mount Royal, then we spent all afternoon walking along St. Denis. I introduced her to the glories of Lush, and we ran into [livejournal.com profile] curtana and [livejournal.com profile] forthright at Valet d'Coeur, where I gave M. a quick intro to the wacky world of gaming. Heck, if she plans on dating me for a long time, she needs to know just how big of a geek I am, and how I often spend my Sunday afternoons. ;) We capped off the day with a delicious (and I do mean delicious) meal at Café Santropol. That place is marvelous, and not expensive at all. I heartily recommend it. It also has vegetarian and vegan-friendly meals.

Nothing new on the work front. More updates as events warrant. A few weeks back one of our trackers got his jaw broken in three places by some asshole while he was on vacation, so now he has his jaw wired shut. Poor guy, it really looks awful, and sounds worse when he talks. With any luck the wiring will be off in another couple of weeks. He's lost about ten pounds, maybe more by now, since he can't eat anything. He's forced to live off those liquid supplements. Bleah.

I really, really want a nap right now. I got eight hours of sleep last night, and it feels like I got nothing at all. Maybe if I get rid of the headache it'll help.

Anyway, that's what I've been up to. That and getting the car fixed, but I have to take it back Friday 'cause it's still leaking oil. I also got a food processor, but I have no food to put into it right now, which is ironic. I shall perhaps write about the food processor saga later on, but no promises. I have been very unreliable about updating of late.

Okay, the clock tells me I must cease shilly-shallying and get ready for work. See everyone later!

Ooh! I missed the lovelife development - lucky girl (that would be M ;)

I just ordered a food processor too. Can't wait until it arrives! My first recipe will be raw cauliflower hummus...because well, hummus is yummus!

Cafe Santropol is one of my favorites from the last 2 decades in Montreal...I haven't been in soooooo long - thanks for the reminder. I wonder...do they still put cream cheese in each and every sandwich????

Lots of cream cheese, yes, but not on every sandwich, if memory serves. I had the veggie chili, which was very good.

If you don't mind me asking, what did hiring someone for 4 hours run you? What's included in that? I'm considering the same thing myself...either a pricey one shot deal (which I would then endeavor to maintain par levels) or a regular thing...

I also heartily recommend Santropol...yummiest sandwiches ever! And I love the atmosphere.

They charge $96 for four hours (taxes not included) if you supply your own cleaning products, and $115 if you don't.

This is more of a pricey one-shot deal than a regular thing. I wouldn't want to spend this much money more than, say, once a month or once every two months.

and they do everything?

Or just certain chores (like no floors or windows etc..)

As far as I can tell they do everything except maybe laundry. I didn't inquire about windows because it honestly didn't occur to me.

That is one hell of an update.

Lots of useful info here. Being a fairly recently-converted vegetarian, methinks I'll try that place out...Cafe Santropol...and not expensive.

I'm always tempted to eat the goods at Lush!
