The bathroom is halfway done. I am clearing out laundry, which has gotten so out of hand that it's actually preventing me from cleaning properly in there. So, laundry first, more cleaning later. The sink and counter, however, are sparkling. Left over are the toilet, bathtub and floor. Three or four loads of laundry should do the trick, I think.

When cleaning, I like to tackle the bathroom first. Weird, I know. For one, I like the fact that I can see the results of my work instantaneously, unlike the rest of the apartment. For another thing, I tend to use the bathroom as my BoO (Base of Operations) when cleaning, and so it helps to have it neat, clean and organized. It facilitates the whole cleaning process.

In a few moments I shall go reboot the first load of laundry, and put in a second. I haven't decided which to tackle first after that: the bedroom or the kitchen. I think I will tackle the kitchen, since I have an itch to start cooking again, and I hate cooking when the kitchen isn't clean.

Incidentally, do any of my Montreal friends employ a Cleaning Person? I think I will bite the bullet and get someone to come every two weeks and wash the floors. The floors are my Nemesis. I hate washing floors so much that I put it off forever, and since the floors are the foundation for my place being clean, it ends up spiraling into my home looking like the site of a particularly gruesome guerrilla skirmish.

Recommendations? Anyone? Bueller?

I am so with you on mopping floors. I don't usually mind sweeping, but washing? ARGH. It is especially bad since my "no wax" has been stripped down by the previous occupants, so I have to bleach and/or use scrubbing cleanser in order to get it clean. Then, if I want it to stay clean for any length of time I have to do one of those products that leaves a shine on it too. If I could afford a cleaning person, I would go for it too!

I also like cleaning the bath and kitchen first. I think because those are the most labor intensive. I add the laundry room to that too, since laundry can take up a bulk of your day.

We employed a cleaning person for a short while a few years ago. We had absolutely no complaints about the quality of work. We only stopped using her because I lost my job and we couldn't afford it any more.

I think we got her through a cleaning agency. I could ask [livejournal.com profile] taxlady if she remembers the name of the agency or the cleaner.
