More pet weirdness.

Smudge just came up to me a few minutes ago, stood on his hind legs, placed both front paws on my leg and begged for attention. He purred and rubbed his head against my hand, yowled when I stopped and was only content after I'd fussed over him for about five minutes straight.

He's wandered off again now.

Am perplexed. Gratified, but perplexed.

Oh, that's nothing. Shadow so adores drinking out of the bottom of the shower that he'll sit there and whine until I crack the shits and get out.

I have no idea what you just said. :)

However, for Smudge this is very odd behaviour. Standard procedure for him is to hiss at me and then run away and hide. :P

So this latest display of trust and affection is gratifying, if deeply perplexing for me. :)

*thinks* Okay, I think I've got what I just said in plain English.

Shadow, my cat, likes to drink the water out of the bottom of my shower, so much so that he'll sit outside while I'm in there and howl until I get annoyed enough to get out.

Is that better?

Thanks. :)

It was the "cracks the shit" part that sounded very foreign. *g*

Lemme know if any of my Canadianisms are too weird for you as well. :)

My cat's name is Smudge too! She also tends to hiss and run alot and is generally antisocial. But she didn't used to be; it's just since we brought another cat into our home...

Coolness!

My Smudge was pre-named when I got him. I don't think it's something I would have chosen myself, since I go for traditional "people" names or names of famous people when I name my pets (George and Pan-Pan -diminutive of Pangloss- and Fangio are the pets I've named so far).

But it is still cool. Is she a long-haired black cat as well? 'Cause that would be creepy. ;)

She's a long-haired tortoiseshell (grey, peach and white). I did name her Smudge myself because she was the kitten of a feral cat who brought her kittens into our house when we were living in Jamaica. They had probably just opened their eyes; they couldn't locomote much yet. The first thing I saw on Smudge as she and her sibs hid behind the toilet in the spare bathroom was a smudge of peach on her forehead. So the name kind of stuck.

She, of course, was the cleverest and prettiest of the kittens so we took her on an airplane and brought her to Canada, after a catnapping and at least one other misadventure.
