It's Boxing Day!
Dec. 26th, 2006 04:10 pmI am not up North with my godparents the way I would like to be. However, after an initial rush things seem to be quieter at work. The traffic getting here was insane: my office is situated near a big old shopping complex, so while the autoroute was completely clear (it took only 15 minutes from home to exit) it took nearly 15 extra minutes to get from the exit to the office (roughly 5 city blocks) because of all the people in cars trying to get to the Boxing Day deals.
The alarms are coming in steadily today, but as I said, apart from a massive rush when I came in (nearly 40 alarms in 30 minutes), it's not too bad. The morning rush is over, and people are likely trickling back home, purchases in hand. There's a tractor that keeps sending an alarm every 15 minutes, because it's out clearing snow, which was annoying at first but now is just funny. (*squee* SNOW!) Correction: two tractors. I think they're having a competition to see which one can accumulate the most alarms.
I spent this morning folding and putting away laundry. I have a small pile of ironing waiting for me when I get home, too. I nearly had a heart attack this morning while I was putting away my linens, because George managed to sneak into one of the linen cupboards without my noticing, and leaped out at me when I next opened the door.
There was a great deal of repeating the mantra "I love my cats. I love my cats. I would regret it if I killed them. I love my cats," this morning, when I discovered that someone had peed *under* the litter boxes. It was recent pee, too. I was unthrilled, but vinegar and hot water solved the problem. Then George puked his entire breakfast all over the floor. It was not a good cat-fluid day, let me tell you.
Anyway, tonight there will be ironing. Eventually I shall get around to washing my floors. Eventually. Four more cleaning days before
joane and
shenlo come to visit! Eek!
Okay, the alarms are starting up again. Gotta go!
