Going to the EI office this morning. I got up later than I intended, mostly due to a dream about being recognized by a mob boss against whom I'd testified but who was released early for some reason. I might write more about it when I get home, if I can still remember it then.

It's going to be a tight few weeks, I think. According to the EI website, I need to factor in a minimum of two weeks before I see any money at all. *sigh* No one ever wants to give me money. Sad, really.

Anyway, the local bus drops me right in front of the office, so I'm going to leave in about five minutes to hop aboard on time. That's the one good thing about living in a low-income neighbourhood: the EI office is *really* accessible by public transit.

In other more random news, I just wish that other shoe would drop already. I'm getting a little tired of waiting, here.

The two-week delay is standard; they figure that your 4% covers that period. It never does, of course.

You do get backpay for those two weeks, though, once they've got you in the system and all.

Really? Cool. I got the impression that I'd only be getting a week-per-week instalment thing (or every two weeks), and that I'd just have to suffer and be two weeks behind on everything until I got a job again.

That's very reassuring to know. Thanks!

Well, when I was on EI, it was mostly a matter of 'it takes two weeks from the end of your employment, provided you have all your paperwork in to us in a timely fashion to process your application and begin releasing payment'.

Then for the biweekly reports I had to fill out to continue getting EI payments, it would be two weeks from filing those before the money would show up. Basically, they were just two weeks behind schedule for your payment the whole time you were on EI. So I'd get a cheque from them two weeks after starting work again, too. Because it was actually the pay for the last two weeks before getting a job, if that makes sense...
