Oh, yeah, I watched 24 last night
Mar. 14th, 2006 09:07 pmAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH!
They killed Tony! Bastards!
There was a lot of screaming at the television set yesterday. A *lot*.
After George Mason, Tony was one of my favourite characters. I haven't seen Season 4 yet, but in all the seasons I've seen he was pretty much the long-suffering guy who took the brunt of things when Jack's plans went wrong, and he did it brilliantly.
Did I mention there was screaming? First they blow him up in the premiere, but he survives. Whew, breath of relief, he's going to make it. Then they drag him into CTU where there's NERVE GAS all over the place. Ack! But no, he's still alive when the gas is vented, crisis averted. Whew, again. I was worried there, for a second...
And then he goes and dies in a REALLY STUPID WAY! AAUGH!
I sat there, saying to my mother: "Why is he using a needle? He's got a gun! That's a really stupid thing to... no. No! No no no! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!"
Blindsided completely.
My mother was bemused by my reaction, but this is the first season of 24 she's ever watched.
They're dropping like flies! And I understand that it couldn't be Kim Bauer unless we really wanted to watch Jack lose it, but I was disappointed. :P
Also, go Lynn McGill! Redemption is a good thing. I felt very sad for the Random Security Guy, who had the best line in the whole episode, too. "So, we're all going to die because you were embarrassed?"
Gah. Badness.

Tony has been my favourite character since halfway through first season. He died as he lived - loyal and dedicated, but not a great field agent and over-emotional.

And yes, he did indeed die as he lived. I'm going to miss him. He offset Jack beautifully.
Mind you, no one will ever take the place of George Mason in my heart. He was awesome. Totally awful as a person, but damn if he didn't pull through in the end.
