Mar. 14th, 2006 09:02 pmThis is a Public Service Announcement.
Turns out that Bloglines is syndicating LJs without permission. Syndicated feeds are one of those automatic things provided by LJ (insert technical explanation that I don't understand here). The problem is that the feeds are showing previews of friends-locked posts and even, I think, private entries.
So, yeah. Not a good thing.
Luckily,
meallanmouse provides a handy-dandy link to an article that gives information on how to block this, if your journal happens to be among those being syndicated (you can search for your LJ username to see if that's the case).
So, now you know.

Date: 2006-03-15 04:00 pm (UTC)If this is happening it would be LiveJournals fault for including the locked posts in the RSS feeds. I use Bloglines and have never seen a locked post show up in a livejournal I subscribe to.

Date: 2006-03-15 06:29 pm (UTC)The protected/private issue is... hm... from LJ:
"Protected entries are visible if the user requesting the feed is able to authenticate with LiveJournal and has permission to see the entries. Permission is granted through your browser's login cookies, or by HTTP Digest Auth by appending ?auth=digest to the URL."
Huh.
