So much stuff, not nearly enough time or energy to update.

Friday afternoon was a bad time. There was stress, there was more stress, and let me just thank [livejournal.com profile] luvenditti for being very patient while I had a complete meltdown on the phone at five o'clock in the evening at a payphone in the Eaton Centre. I am very sorry that you had to be on the receiving end of that, darlin'. Kisses!

After that, I twisted my ankle in a pothole (filling both boots with slush) and fell in front of a guy, who carefully stepped around me and kept walking. If I hadn't been on my hands and knees and in pain, I probably would have punched him very hard. Anyway. I went to [livejournal.com profile] karine's party after that and got pleasantly sloshed (and no hangover the next day, whee!) and saw old and current friends and had a thoroughly marvelous time, which made up for the crappy day.

Onto the rest of the holiday:

Suffice it to say that a good holiday was had. The goods outweighed the bads. The Happy Parental Unit Moments outnumbered the Passive-Aggressive Parental Unit Moments. Christmas Eve Day was tiring and stressful, but Christmas Eve was relaxed and peaceful. Christmas Day was nice. The morning was just me and the parental units. Afternoon and evening was spent with part of the Family, who as usual outstayed their welcome, but on the whole they were better behaved than most years, and one aunt and uncle made up for the rest in spades. Boxing Day was a lot better than I thought it would be, and in fact was a whole lot of fun. Everyone was in good spirits, and there was a family there that I hadn't seen in ten years, and the two whiny, bratty boys have grown up into two good-looking, poised, articulate, intelligent young men with whom I had a very pleasant afternoon talking about literature and American politics. I didn't get in any snowshoeing, unfortunately.

This is the nutshell version.

I hope everyone had at least as good a three-day weekend as I did, or even better.

I didn't even get to see you at Karine's! When I walked in the kitchen was crammed full of bodies; I barely saw one or two faces before my panicked crowd-reaction kicked in and I chose the less overwhelming living room instead. (Would you believe there was an entire couch empty?)

As a result there were some very important people to whom I didn't even get a chance to say hi, let alone exchange news after not seeing them in a couple of years. Plus locals whom I don't see often, either. And locals like yourself whom I see regularly but hey, party, more reasons to give hugs and enjoy company!

I'm glad things have been good for you over the short Christmas break, all things considered.

Yeah, I was going to post a comment in your blog to say hi since I missed you at the party. Was going to say hi when I saw the three of you walked in, but was walled in by people in the kitchen, and then I got whisked off to the basement, and then you were gone. Oops.

Such are the risks one runs at large parties. ;)

Next time. :)

Ouch!! Sorry you twisted your ankle. That was rude of the guy to NOT help!!!!!! WTF?!!!
Glad you had a good holiday!!! Happy parent unit moments overpowering the passive-aggressive parental unit moments - YAY!

Hmm.. we've never celebrated Boxing Day. What is the typical celebration for that??
