Pan-Pan isn't doing well.

I got home and found him walking all weird. A little stiff, and almost as though he's having trouble with his back legs supporting him. Yes, he's gained weight, but this is sudden. He keeps walking around and suddenly sitting down. Even then, he sits awkwardly, as though something's bothering him. Right now he's sort of crouched in the living room, not moving and looking kind of put-upon. It's not like him at all. Usually at this time in the evening he likes to sit on the fridge, which makes me think even more that he's done something to his back or his legs or something.

I don't know what it could be. If it's arthritis, then why didn't it flare when it was so much colder a few weeks ago? If it's a UTI, it's manifesting oddly (no inappropriate peeing or anything). I had to break up a vicious fight between him and Smudge this morning, wherein Smudge decided for no apparent reason to beat the living crap out of poor Pan. Smudge got sprayed by the Bad Kitty Bottle and then some, let me tell you. So maybe he sprained something? I don't know.

Poor boy.

I can't take him to the vet until Friday, if it turns out to be necessary. I'll be watching him like a hawk this week to see if it gets better or worse or what.

For those of you brand-new to my LJ, Pan-Pan is one of the Four Feline Forces of Entropy, my second-oldest cat, the gentlest and probably the least swift mentally. He's in the icon on this post.

Oh dear. Hopefully he just slept on it in a funny way. Do keep an eye on him though. My G got some wierd blood clot that effectively paralysed his hind legs a few years back. That's not to freak you out or anything. As I said, hopefully just a passing sleepy leg.

It doesn't look like it, but he seemed better this morning. Hopefully it's just a passing thing like a strained muscle or something.

*crosses fingers*

Eep! I hope he's doing better soon, and that it's nothing serious.

I hope so too.

Well, it's probably not UTI. When Khan had that, the only way we knew was that he would pee in the wrong place. Didn't effect his walking around.

No, but I wouldn't put it past Pan-Pan to come up with completely different symptoms just because he was too dim to realize what was going on with him. ;)

We had something similar happen to Jake a few years ago, and it was arthritis. I was just playing with him one night wen I noticed he was limping rather badly. We took him to the vet, they gave him a shot and a 5-day course of medicine and he was fine after that. I hope it's something similar for your meow as well. How old is Pan-Pan?

By which I mean I hope it's something similarly easy to fix, not that I hope he has arthritis.

I shouldn't write anything prior to morning coffee.

Pan-Pan, near as I can figure, is around eight or nine years old. I don't have an exact age for any of my cats, sadly. I got them all as cast-offs from other homes.
