I've been "accused" of losing a valuable document. It's possible it got shuffled to the wrong desk. It's also possible it never got here. I don't habitually read the mail I deliver. It would take too long, and besides, it's boring. I just do my best to get it to the right person, end of story. Sometimes that doesn't happen, because it's not really meant to go to the person to whom it's addressed (ever notice that about mail?).

I've searched both my desk and L's desk. It's not here. We didn't sign for it and then forget it. Which means it's either somewhere in the manager's office, on the desk of her admin. assistant, or else it wasn't delivered here.

We'll see if I hear back from the manager. She hasn't asked about it in fifteen minutes or so. Maybe she's found it already. If it doesn't turn up, we'll have to phone the courrier and ask for confirmation that it was delivered and signed for by someone who works here.

I needed this like a kick in the teeth.

Okay, so the document is here. I signed for it. Since it came by messenger, that also means I would have brought it to its rightful owner (at least, to my knowledge) within about fifteen minutes maximum of its receipt. I hope to God they find it. My name is the last associated with that stupid paper. Gah.
