Okay, chickens. Time for another poll, 'cause I'm curious. :)

[Poll #508407]

I'm off to make icons now. Woo!

Waaah! I had to spend my money on things like a new amplifier instead.

Well, it's a tough call, but I'd say you made a good choice. ;)

To clarify my answer - I did want one, and could have afforded one, but several factors swayed me away from making the purchase. Namely, I'm can't be certain that I'll still be using LJ in the somewhat over four years it would take for a permanent account to break even with the cost of just paying year-by-year (even when I pay an extra $10 a year for 50 user pics). Not that I expect to give it up, but one just doesn't know - LJ could start to suck sometime over the next four years, for instance by putting up ads or selling my personal info or some other unpleasant practice. I would really just have been getting it for the coolness factor, rather than for any financially practical reason, and I decided that I'd rather have that money to spend on other stuff :)

Heh. I can understand that. It was a tougher call to make this time around, especially with the steeper price tag.

I'm not sure either. On the other hand, LJ is over six years old already, isn't it?

Yes, but it wasn't owned by Six Apart for most of that time. While they don't seem to have become evil *yet*, there's nothing to say that they won't, particularly if they get sold to another, larger company.

Let me clarify my answer, my mum gave me the money for one, which I don't actually feel incredibly smug about, more feel a bit like a brat, but the exchange rate is pretty good right now (almost 2 to one...) and I have wanted one forever and erm yes. Technically all my money goes on rent, bills and if I'm lucky food, but the fact that LJ is often a lifeline for me.. I dunnoe, I was very conflicted about it, but it's done now. I'll go back to being quiet.

Yeah, well, I didn' t mean to imply that people would automatically feel smug about being given a Permanent Account.

Anyone who's read me for a significant length of time should know that my Default Mode tends to be pretty flippant. Really, the poll is just meant for fun. It's not there to make people feel bad about themselves.

No! I know you were being flippant and fun, I was just saying that I did have feelings of guilt about getting a permanent account when I cannot afford other things lol!

Oh, okay, good. Whew. I was worried for a minute. :)

I was worried I'd pissed you off, hope I didn't ;) I realised I didn't have my prerequisite emotion clarifications in there, which I normally like to put in internet comminucations to make sure things don't get taken the wrong way, but it's late and I'm tired, and have been thinking about it on and off since I first saw that they were going to be sold.. and erm you seem to be the receiver of my random ramble of the day, sorry about that, I think i need to go to bed!

Night night

(oh and you got yours last time didn't you?)

My permanent account? Yeah, I got it back in January 2002.

Curse these silly text mediums, with their lack of inflection and intonation and facial expression! ;)

All day permanent red

Re: Subject line: That's a band, or a book, or a blog, or a shade of lipstick somewheres isn't it? Damn. It makes me nutz to remember some catch-phrase or something and then not be able to remember from whence it came.

That aside, I've wanted a permanent account for some time now. You know, they used to be incredibly rare. I think that prior to today's sale there were only 300 or so out of all the LJ accounts. I knew six people with permanent accounts. Statistically, the odds on that happening, given the population of LJ when I figured it (3 million users) was something like 40,000 to 1. Heh heh, anyway, I have one now!

Wow. I didn't realize there were so few permanent accounts before today. Live and learn. Congratulations.à

I feel overwhelmed by all the icon possibilities! Eee!
