Hee hee!

I have decided that if I go to Toronto Trek next year, I will go as Numfar. It's three hours of make-up, and I will have to learn the Dance of Joy (and possibly the Dance of Triumph, and maybe even the Dance of Shame), but I will suffer for my art.

Numfar rocks my world. Numfar is also Joss Whedon. :D

Those of you who don't watch Angel will have no idea what I'm talking about, and that's okay.

I called Thompson Tremblay, another temp agency (Prospero's Daughter will be so proud!), and I have an appointment with them tomorrow at 9am. Eep! More demonstration of my suckiness at typing and whatnot. :P

Oh well. :)

I also have a one-week under-the-table job replacing my aunt at her regular job. I will be a lady's companion, of all unlikely things. o_O

Hey, it's a paycheck. It starts next Monday. I'll have to get up at 5am. *dies*

I'm sorry, your Aunt's a what?

Sounds terribly Victorian, doesn't it? My aunt takes care of an elderly lady who lives in a retirement home, except that she doesn't do much except keep her company, make her cups of tea, take her out for lunch, and give her a bath every day.

So she's a Lady's Companion, more or less.

My aunt is going on a trip for a week, and she asked me whether I would take her place during that time, and hey, a paycheck's a paycheck, right?

Or Edwardian. :)

Maybe it's me, but you seem a little defensive. There's nothing wrong with it at all.

No, not defensive, per se. I'm a little, err, troubled by the concept, I must say. I'm a little afraid of screwing this up. I'm so used to the idea of trained professionals taking care of the elderly that I'm worried I might do something drastically wrong.

The odds are slim, I'll grant you, and I'm going on Wednesday to spend the morning with my aunt and the lady in question to see how things are done in order to prevent any such mishaps, as it happens.

Ah, I see. I think your fears are unwarranted. I'm not even sure why you are used to the idea of trained professionals taking care of the elderly... It doesn't sound like this lady has any medical needs as part of your duties. But still, it's a sound precaution to get some on the job training.
