I don't understand.

Really, I don't.

The CD *says* English. When I first installed it, it was in English. Yet now, when I installed the software that goes with my scanner, and which allows me to do limited yet useful mucking around with images, it's all in Portuguese.

Colour me confused.

Luckily, I know enough Italian and French and a teeny, tiny smattering of Spanish, and am familiar enough with where everything was in the old software program that I think I can get by in this "new" one.

Weird.

The CD is supposedly bilingual, but I can't make it install the English version anymore. In fact, the English version of the software seems to have vanished entirely. I've tried everything I can think of. I must really have a talent for messing up the language component of my computers (not to mention everything else about them! ^^;).

Dude. I speak four languages. You'd figure I'd fall on a language I speak, but noooo. At least it's an alphabet I recognise. I should be grateful it wasn't in Japanese. Then I'd *really* be screwed. ^_-

It's kinda like the time when I was younger, my dad bought my sister and I this awesome kite that you had to put together, and there were directions in Spanish, French, and Portugese, but the box it came in was in English.

Needless to say we never did figure out how to put the thing together.

I think the CD just throws out random languages. "I'm feeling particularly nasty today," it thinks, "my next command set will be in Tenguar. And then Klingon, and then maybe throw in a pattering of Linear B."

Have you checked the scanner manufacturer's website? Frequently there is updated version of the software available in various languages.

Or, if not an updated version, the same version that came with it, but also available in multiple languages. I'd think it would in this case, simply because the original one you installed sounds like it has the multiple language option (in theory).
