Run, Eliza, Run, and other stories
Jan. 5th, 2004 02:15 pmSo yesterday, after IRC had a meltdown on me and refused to let me back into Perseity (hopefully I'll be able to give it another go on Tuesday, which reminds me, I have to email
curtana to schedule a day and time with her), I went out with Prospero's Daughter to re-stock my fridge and cupboards.
As you may or may not remember, my kitchen was suffering from Mother Hubbard Syndrome. So we went to Provigo and then to this nice market near Prospero's Daughter's Place that I think is Iranian, called Akhaban.
I bought lots of stuff. Cereal and fruit and yoghurt and milk and eggs and cat food, but also tzatziki and pita bread and falafel and all sorts of good things. Oh, and ten pounds of basmati rice. Eee! I LOVE basmati rice! I can do SO MUCH with rice. Rice rocks my world. It was eight dollars, too. Seventy dollars on me and twenty dollars on the cats (their food is not cheap) and we are all fed for three weeks (and four for the cats).
It hurt my pocket-book something fierce, but given that my fridge was, quite literally, bare, as were my cupboards except for the odd can of soup, it was well worth it. It needed to be done.
Once food shopping was taken care of, we returned to Prospero's Daughter' apartment, unpacked her shopping, conversed briefly with her building superintendent about the wiring in her apartment and about the smoke detectors, and made a yummy dinner of beef, mashed potatoes and green beens.
We watched a wonderfully regrettable B movie starring Eliza Dushku of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame called Wrong Turn. It's a movie in the spirit of Deliverance to which one of the characters actually refers in the course of the movie, to my delight. This same character is played by the actor who plays Billy, the Bi-Polar brother of Nate's girlfriend in Six Feet Under, if that means anything to you. That's partly why we watched it.
We were disappointed by the lack of running in the movie. So we watched the premiere of Tru Calling after that, and I must confess that I rather liked it. I think I may wheedle and cajole Prospero's Daughter into letting me watch more of those with her later on. I don't know when that'll happen, as we tend to hang out with
lux80 most of the time, and she doesn't really like that kind of thing. Poor
lux80 wasn't feeling well yesterday and so didn't join us the way she usually does, which is why we got to indulge in Eliza Dushku for a while.
We also watched the episode of Punk'd in which Eliza Dushku was featured. I felt sorry for her by the end, she looked like she was about to cry. :)
It was a very successful evening, all in all. :)
And Prospero's Daughter sent me the cutest birthday e-card today! With singing piglets! Eee!

Date: 2004-01-05 11:53 am (UTC)Sorry for that. I have nothing pertinent to add, but I just couldn't resist the brain explosion your title gave me.
I'll be going away now.
Happy birthday again!

Date: 2004-01-05 04:14 pm (UTC)Eliza Dushku running is a sight to behold indeed. ;) Good thing Tru is a track star, yes?
Actually, I heard she turned down an offer to make a Faith spinoff. I know the fan appeal would've been high, but I guess we'll have to see how Tru Calling manages in the long run.
Faith spinoff
Date: 2004-01-05 04:28 pm (UTC)If so, I would have watched it.
I haven't seen Tru at all, any good?
And I am SO in favour of Eliza running. Lots.

Re: Faith spinoff
Date: 2004-01-05 05:06 pm (UTC)Seems the idea was to not kill Spike if they were going to do Faith, thus doing something different in Angel.
I don't mind, they seem to be trying something interesting with him on Angel. all good.
