It's Christmas night (not to be confused with Christmas Eve, of course), and all is well.
I spent last night with my parents. We went to Midnight Mass at Notre-Dame Cathedral, and while I do like taking part in the ritual and the mystery of my religion, I think that next year I'll ask if we can find a smaller Church where things won't be as disrupted.
For one thing, the service there was being televised and broadcast, and the red spotlight that blinded me every three minutes kind of took away from the holiness of the moment. :P
It was also kind of sad that the priest had to explain to people what to do when they took communion. I mean, have Catholics really sunk so far that they no longer know to eat the Host while standing in front of the priest and only then to go back to their seat and pray? Not to hold the Host in their hand and take it back to their seat with them?
:(
I didn't take communion. I haven't been to confession in a while, and even though I'm sure most of the people in there taking communion hadn't been in a while either, it doesn't mean that I should follow their example.
I spent the night at my parents' place, the way I did last year, leaving the FFEs to fend for themselves (I left them plenty of food and water, don't worry). Got up at noon, but only because my mother woke me up. The new meds really put me out like a light (in fact, this post is now suffering, because I've started moving. in. slow. motion.), which is a good thing.
Presents were nice. Got a hat and some CDs and four books my father got for $1 in a discount bin somewhere as a joke. Oh, and enough money to wipe out my credit card. *does a Happy Booty Dance*
New Year = Clean Credit Card Slate
Yee!
Two of my uncles landed on our doorstep at 3pm, which is fairly typical of my family. Even when they're not invited they show up anyway. :) We love them no matter what. We fed them, although one of them left reasonably early because he was heading out for Christmas dinner with the family of his soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend (he just broke up with her, but Christmas plans were already made, apparently).
My other uncle was still chatting to my mother when I left at 9pm.
Off to bed now. Crashing massively.
I had a very nice Christmas. It was calm, quiet, peaceful, and really really pleasant.
Hope everyone else had a reasonably good time too. :)
