I don't feel like taking calls, so I'm pretending to be busy and doing a meme instead. If they fire me, well, boo hoo.

What's the list? 100 best movies ever according to somebody?

And I think a very good argument can be made for Pulp Fiction, and especially Fight Club to be on that list. It's all about the layers and symbolism and all that fun stuff that I haven't analyzed in ages.

I think it's the top 100 according to the reviewing public at The Internet Movie Database, yes?

Oh. My. God.
You. Must. See. Donnie. Darko.

Doesn't it seem a little wrongheaded to automatically judge that a movie you haven't seen shouldn't be on this list? Just askin', is all.

Possibly, but for the most part I know enough of the plot (having friends who described the movies to be in graphic detail) to wonder *why* the movie was included.

Then again, I probably should check what the list is based on before making that a final decision. ;)

Well, it's just the top 100 rated films at the IMDB, and so it's basically just a generic rating of quality as decided by anyone on the Internet with the inclination to do so. So, mostly younger men.

As for the three movies you haven't seen but consider to be un-list-worthy:

Godfather II: Probably doesn't belong as high as it is on the list, but it's still pretty good.
Memento: This movie rocks, and is list-worthy for the screenplay alone.
Pulp Fiction: I prefer Reservoir Dogs, which has a more linear plot, but PF has such great scenes and acting that it deserves a place.

I guess I'm wondering now what you've heard to turn you off them sight unseen. But again, see Donnie Darko first. :)

Okay, doing a bit better for the movies than the books... Seen 23 of the hundred. Of course, having seen them and having paid attention while seeing them are two entirely different things ;)
