It also sounds like the lines are busy. What is the MATTER with people that they feel the irrestistible need to deal with their cell phone problems RIGHT NOW?
Honestly.
If they had any sense at all they'd be spending time with their family and keeping their cell phones turned off, unless they're a doctor on call or they're waiting for a kidney transplant.
Otherwise, what's the point of having a three or four-day weekend?
If I were in their shoes (and I'm not), I wouldn't even go near a phone all day except to send good wishes to my family. But that's just me.
