Am following crowd. Ba-aa.

*makes like sheep*

Of course, most of you already know most of these things, but there you go.

- I'm an only adopted child.

- My first word was a deformation of a Romanian term of endearment. No, I don't speak Romanian.

- I wear my watch on my right arm.

- I am severly phobic of large vehicles, like tractors and cranes and what have you. That's because when I was four years old I got stuck in a snowbank during a snowstorm and was nearly sliced in half by a snow-removal tractor. The driver didn't see me and couldn't hear me screaming, and it was only by pure luck that a passer-by saw me and signalled frantically to him to stop. I was a hysterical mess by the time they pulled me out, and even today I get nervous and keep away from that type of vehicle, even when it's obviously stationary and there's no one operating it.

- I used to be a prolific writer when I was younger, and wrote several unpublishable books between the ages of eleven and fifteen (between two and four hundred pages each —I had a lot of spare time). I lost all those texts when my computer was stolen this fall.

- I was bullied the last three years of elementary school by a group of (much) larger boys, who particularly enjoyed finding new and creative ways of hurting me in ways that wouldn't be visible to the casual observer.

- When I was eighteen I won one of the most prestigious awards in France for English literary merit for people in my age category.

- I will do almost anything for warm, fresh banana bread.

- I'm a lousy chess player.

- I played the recorder for fourteen years and the flute for five years before I decided to devote all my time to my studies, a decision I still regret.

- I'm extremely easily influenced by others and their opinions.

- (Damn this is hard) I love writing things by hand, but never get around to mailing the letters I've written.

- I love all things involved with writing (by hand). I love fountain pens, and if I had the money I'd have a collection. I love paper in all its incarnations (malapropism, I know), and sealing wax (and cabbages and kings ^_-).

- I am an avid reader of children's books. Especially classics and the French (or should I say Belgian) "bande déssinées." If I could draw I'd write my own.

- I am an unrepentant homebody. The ideal way for me to spend an afternoon is to curl up on a sofa or in bed with my cats, a good book and a cup of tea.

- I obsess easily about things, but tend to forget them in the face of a new obsession. I often flit from project to project only to come back to earlier projects. That way everything gets done, but in a fairly haphazard manner.

- I dislike being held to a schedule, but am happiest when my time is organised. Pretty contradictory, huh?

- My favourite pop group is still The Beatles, followed closely by Simon & Garfunkel.

- Put me near a lake and the first thing I'll do is dive in. The next thing I'll do is stalk the frogs and generally make their life difficult for a while.

- I am inordinately fond of all things cheese.

- The first movie I ever saw was "The Red Balloon" and I cried when the balloon was burst. Not even the end of the movie consoled me. To me that balloon was more special than all the other ones put together.

- My favourite colour is forest green.

- When I was a child, my best friend in all the world was my Belgian Shepherd, Joseph (who was a female in spite of her name).

- My parents nearly named me Cassandra, until my father pointed out that together with my last name it made me sound like a thunderstorm.

- The first book I ever read on my own was "The Rupert Treasury."

- The book that allowed me to survive the bullying at my elementary school was "The Revenge of the Incredible Dr. Rancid and His Youthful Assistant, Jeffrey." That book still rocks my world.

- I wanted to be a veteriniarian when I was a teenager, and my parents firmly steered me back to the more "abstract" form of academics with which they were familiar.

- I had (and still have) an enormous collection of stuffed animals. I love stuffed animals, they rock my world. I haven't got any new ones (except for about four or five from friends which I cherish) since I was nine and my parents decided I was too old to get them as presents.

- I am not fond of jellyfish, even when they're dead and pose no threat. They just vaguely wig me out.

- I'm a very bad poker player. In fact, I'm a very bad bluffer and an even worse lier. The only time I can lie convincingly is when I'm trying to hide something I think might be painful to someone else.

- I hate selling things to people.

- I vary between two extremes: taciturn and garrulous. I am very rarely in-between.

- I am a sop for sad scenes in movies and books. Invariably I'll burst into tears, no matter how bad the acting/writing.

- I haven't read as much as I would like in my lifetime.

- I have a very hard time understanding small children. They seem to like me, yet everything they say and do seems utterly alien to me.

- I am an unrepentant procrastinator. Procrastination is an art forn.

- Right now I have green hair that reaches almost to my waist. That will change tomorrow as I'm having it cut and probably re-coloured.

- I've been short-sighted since I was fifteen but only got glasses when I was 22. Oops. O_O

- I like sci-fi and fantasy, but surprisingly haven't read all that much of it.

- I'm a grammar and spelling Nazi. Netspeak drives me up the wall. I automatically correct people when they speak, although I've been trying to break myself of that habit.

- Conflict of any kind makes me feel physically sick. So much so that if two people are arguing I'll usually leave the room. This only applies IRL. Movies and books are fine for me.

- I whistle when I'm happy. I'm also very good at it. I can whistle most things with a continuous melody (in other words don't ask me to whistle things like rap or what have you).

- I work extremely well when I have a close deadline, but it also turns me into an aggressive wreck, so I prefer not to work under pressure.

- I like orange juice far more than I let on. ^_-

- If I had the space and the money I'd have a lot more pets than I do now.

- I've always wanted to have my own library, like the one we had in our old house (my parents own about 12 000 books), but much bigger and with leather armchairs and a leather sofa.

- I love greenhouses.

- I've found that I am happiest when I'm in a quiet, remote spot in the Laurentians. Just me, a lake and a forest.

- I have an odd fascination with candles. Not fire, but actual candles and the beautiful designs they produce when they burn.

- I love symmetry and will go out of my way to make sure things are arranged symmetrically or at least in an even-looking pattern.

I will post the other 50 things at a later date, 'cause I can't think of anything else.
