More updating
Aug. 25th, 2002 11:07 amWow... to think I used to update this journal several times a day. Goes to show what having a life outside the home will do to a gal.
Lessee, where did I leave off?
Oh, yeah. I was in the middle of one of those major panicky episodes in which nothing seems like it'll ever get better and I'll be engulfed in all my problems forever.
Luckily got over that feeling relatively quickly (thanks again to
firewillow for that), and went to play D&D.
Thoroughly thwarted RC, which was nice. Cast "hold person" on his chief villain, who then rolled a "1" on his saving throw. It was beautiful, and very satifying. The son of Iuz is now our hostage. Heh. *smug look*
Friday passed in an agonising blur. Work was crazy, had massive headache by the end, went to crash at Hurley's with
fearsclave,
rotagar,
firewillow,
cymry and Belfana, was joined later by Poms and
sorceror as well as
joane and Rich (who has a LJ but I don't know his username).
Crashed and burned instead. Mostly it was the result of 2 Guinnesses, 3 black & tans, 1 black velvet and 2 irish coffees.
Lesson learned:
Mixing many drinks in a short amount of time= B-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-D! ! ! ! ! !
Was prodigiously sick.
Was practically carried home by Poms, Joane and Rich. Am ubergrateful for kind attention, and especially Joane who was so nice to me while I was being sick. (And wouldn't you know it? All the stalls in the bathroom were occupied the *one* time I was sick, whereas they were empty all evening)
Had breakfast with NA, daughter of godfather and good friend. Told her all about BUS and what I've been up to, and she updated me on her life too. She's going to be working at the Children's Hospital as a therapist (art therapy), and is very excited about it. It's nice to finally see her knowing what she wants to do with her life. :)
Barbecue was much fun. Met some of Joane's friends and partied (no booze) with people from Gamers' Guild. Notable absences:
curtana,
forthright and
blackbuffet for altogether justifiable reasons, but next year I hope they make it. It just wasn't the same without them.
Went home with Joane and Rich, watched O Brother: Where Art Thou? Ate sushi, played Grave Robbers From Outer Space, watched wonderfully regrettable Anime. :)
Now that I'm getting to know Joane better, I like her more and more. I liked her before, thought she was nice, but I'm discovering she's a truly wonderful human being to be around, and I consider myself very lucky to be able to count her among my friends.
I really need to introduce her to Fire. They'd get along, well, like a house on fire. ;)
