So much to do today, so little time. I figure I'll get it all sorted out though. Kinda tired. I have to start going to bed earlier. Especially if I'm going to be working early in the mornings on the other side of the freaking galaxy (i.e. Dorval).

Still trying to settle things for my Deadlands game. Every time I think I've got it figured out I realise there's a ton of stuff that doesn't make sense, and now, a day and a half before the Con I have the sinking feeling I may have to start over again almost from scratch. Suckage.

BB's concept is highly amusing. I have to find a suitably evil plot for him.

I think that next year I'll invite players personally to my new Deadlands game, if I ever get it off the ground. CH is a really good player, for instance, but people like EB and KS I can do without. Super nice outside a gaming setting, but as players I find that the quality is sorely lacking.

Might ask RDE and ML to join the game too. ML was complaining that he hasn't played in anything for two years and is jonesing badly. I think he might join my game at the Con if he gets there early enough.

I think my intrigue is too complex. This is a four?hour game, after all.

Inviting players is definitely the way to go. You don't want to get stuck with someone you just can't stand in your game - sometimes, you don't even want them to *ask* whether they can play, because you hate to say no :) And if you're really anal, you can get them to make characters first, and judge their suitability for your game that way. A random assortment of players can often lead to personality conflicts and crappy role-playing. You need to think about the style of game you want to run - whether it's something more realistic, more theatrical, more heroic, more anti-heroic, whatever. Some people might do really well in one type of game, but just never get the hang of another one.

Forthright and I are brutally elitist anymore. We make lists of people who are eligible to play in our campaigns, generally ranked in order of preference. We then work down the list until we have enough players :) Of course, it doesn't prevent problems, just minimizes them.
