Mad dogs and Englishmen

Normal people don't call the police at 03:00 unless it's an emergency.

Calling the police at 03:00 to tell me that we're all a bunch of [expletive deleted] because you didn't get a financial reward for informing on your criminal buddies, or calling to get a booklet so you can request a pardon from the government, or calling to report your pot-smoking neighbour, proves that you are not normal.

Gnarr.

That's annoying.

I wanted to take out some of my lovely organic meat from my freezer in the shed this morning, so that it might thaw in time for me to make some shepherd's pie (or cottage pie, as owldaughter pointed out).

Unfortunately, the padlock on my shed appears to have been affected by the cold weather, and won't unlock. It's not even that cold out!

Now I shall have to get bolt cutters, and see if I can find a padlock that won't freeze. Also, I have no cottage pie.

Wherein Phnee uses her LJ as a To Do List

I have a few things that I must get done tonight:

1- Take a shower
2- Put in a load of laundry
3- Hang up said laundry when it's done
4- Do the dishes
5- Tidy up the sea of Tupperware on my dining room table
6- Clean out the cat pans

I have been putting some of this off for way too long. Night shift makes me want to hide for the whole day, but given that I've been working night shift almost all month, this is no longer an option. I can't go for a whole month without cleaning. Well, I could, but then I would be living in squalor, and that's not something I'm anxious to revisit. :P

I Have Arrived

I just had the following conversation.

Me: "GRC-RCMP Montréal bonjour, good evening!"

Caller: *speaking with a heavy middle-eastern accent* "Yes, this is Queen Annan, and I wish to report a fraud that is being committed against me."

Me: "Okay. 'Queen' is your first name?"

Caller: "No, it is my title. Queen Annan. I am Queen of the Universe."

Me: "You're the Queen of the Universe?"

Caller: "Yes."


The conversation went downhill from there.
