My imaginary worlds are quickly becoming more important in my life than my real world. At least, online. Luckily, I don't think I spend more time in them than I do in the real world yet, which would be a definite "Danger, Will Robinson!" sign, but I can sort of see how that might happen, one of these days.

It's so much nicer to live the life of a Jedi padawan, or even a thirteen-year-old gymnast who lives in the future, or an Air Force counterintelligence specialist, than my own life. They don't have to worry about paying the rent, or about their feelings of inadequacy or their completely stupid fears of abandonment. They have problems that are bigger than that, but that are surmountable.

My problems are all small and stupid, but I can't see a way around them, because they're my problems, in essence.

It's more fun to pretend to be other people, though. The people who live in my head live richer lives than I do. My life just isn't that exciting. I don't demand constant adventure and thrills, mind you. I'd just like... well, something more. Something more than getting up in the morning and waiting for the day to end.

Funnily enough, I'm not depressed. Not yet. I'm a bit hypomanic these days (Exhibit A: the billions of icons I've produced in the past few days), so I expect I'll come down from that soon and be well and truly depressed.

But my moods are unbalanced, as are my sleep patterns, and that's never a good sign.

Ronald Reagan died.

I would say his passing marked the end of an era, except that the era is long past. Poor man. It was a terrible way to go.

First gay marriage held in France

Of course, everyone's jumping up to say it's null and void, but at least it's a first step. My parents are in France right now, so they must be hearing all about it.

At least, I hope they are. It'll do 'em good.

I think I'll go explore the neighbourhood Blockbuster. They must have DVDs,

The computer's making evil overheating sounds anyway, so it's a good opportunity to turn it off, let it cool down for a while, and maybe rent "Pitch Black" if they have it.

Movie Night for Phnee! (Possibly)

Yay for more escapism!

I rented three movies! Go me!

However, apparently "Pitch Black" isn't available on DVD at my pitiful little local video store. Am displeased.

So instead I just watched "Unbreakable" which I started the other night at my parents' place but had to stop watching because my father kicked me out of the apartment. I believe it went something like this.

Maternal Unit: "Stay as long as you like. Why don't you see if there's something good on?"

Me: "Thanks! Ooh, look: 'Unbreakable's' on. I've wanted to see that for a while..." *starts watching 'Unbreakable'*

Paternal Unit: "It's 9:30. Go home."

Me: "..." *goes home*

Anyway, since I hate not finishing what I start, I rented it and finished it. So did not see the end coming, which was a nice change from "Sixth Sense," although if I didn't know better I would never have guessed it was the same director. Good stuff.

Have also rented "Kate & Leopold," which I had vaguely wanted to see when it came out and then never got around to seeing. Noticed that it starred Hugh Jackman, which I'd forgotten. Since I saw the vastly amusing "Van Helsing" yesterday with [livejournal.com profile] joane and [livejournal.com profile] shenlo, I decided to continue my All Hugh All The Time streak and watch that too.

And I I got "Panic Room," because I seemed to recall Prospero's Daughter making noises about wanting to see it. I left her a message asking her to confirm this, and if my suspicions were right, we may watch it tomorrow. If not, well, I'll just watch it by myself.

In case you're all wondering at this total extravaganza on my part, my pitiful local video store has a special on "old" movies all the time, which is three dollars for three movies for three days. So I went all out. ^_-

Seeing Van Helsing was a load of fun, and for some reason made me want to go back and read [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida's Van Helsing/Dracula fanfic. So much better than the movie, anyway. ^_^

*bounce*

I feel vaguely creative tonight, and yet the writer's block is still firmly in place, at least as far as original stuff is concerned. How annoying.
