Randomness
May. 12th, 2004 01:35 pmQuote to remember from yesterday's good therapy: "Quand t'as le nez collé sur une situation, tu louches."
(Rough translation: "When you look at a situation from too close up, you go cross-eyed," the idea being to take a step back to gain some perspective)
Saw meds doc yesterday for a state of the union type of session, which went well. Another random moment in my life. See, we have this running joke since last September about how I need to get a Palm Pilot, because he has one and I'm always scribbling appointments in my little black book. Now, I lost my little black book a few weeks ago, and I thought I might have left it in his office, so here's how the conversation went.
Me: So, did I leave my little black appointment book here last time?
Meds Doc: No, I don't think you did, but if you did it's lost forever. (His office is a disaster area of papers and binders and books and samples. He's in the midst of moving.)
Me: *conversationally* Oh well. Guess I'll have to get a new one.
Him: *jokingly* You should get a Palm Pilot!
Me: *also jokingly* I can't even pay my rent!
Him: You know, they're not expensive these days.
Me: Are they less than four dollars? That's how much I pay for my little black books.
Him: ...
Me: *grins smugly*
Him: *Has apparent lightbulb moment and gets up and rummages in one of his cabinets. Produces Palm Pilot.* Here. I forgot that two years ago I changed my whole team's Palm Pilots. It's been sitting there unused for two years and it's just going to get tossed away when I move. It's a first-generation. Want it?
Me: *boggles. Blithers something incomprehensible but suitably grateful. Takes Palm Pilot home and coos over it for hours.*
So, yes. I now have a Palm Pilot. I'm still somewhat flummoxed. But at least now I won't be in as much danger of losing all my important stuff. :)
*dances a small jig*
