Catnapping.

No, not taking quick naps. Kidnapping kitties.

Yep, you heard me. I'm going to kidnap a cat that's been prowling around Firewillow's street for a while.

What prompted this decision, you may ask? Well, during my WoD game last night, as we were gathered around the table and doing unspeakable things to the Nazis (and to RC's plot while we were at it), I happened to catch movement out of the corner of my eye. Looking around, I spotted a gorgeous feline scuttling towards the kitchen.

"Hey, [RC]," cried I, "there's a cat in your apartment!"

"What!?"

RC is deathly allergic to the things, so he'd never have one as a pet. He hates the creatures anyway.

So I hopped out of my chair, gathered the miscreant in my arms in my classic "upside–down–cat" pose, and headed out the door. This creature was gorgeous, in spite of her piteous state. Her fur was matted underneath the glossy surface, and she was obviously poorly fed. Still, she was thrilled to be held at all, even if it was in such an undignified position, and she purred lustily in my arms until I unceremoniously booted her out the front door.

Further discussion with Firewillow at lunch revealed this cat to be an absolute darling who was routinely neglected by her owners, who let her run wild in the street. She constantly tries to follow people home, is starved for food and care and attention, and hasn't been spayed, so she tends to get routinely impregnated by roving tomcats.

I have decided, and Firewillow supports me fully, to kidnap this beauty the minute I get my own place and give her all the care she deserves.

Yes, I know this illegal, and no, I don't care.

I am currently rifling through cookbooks trying to decide what to make for dinner tomorrow. Poms is coming to dinner, and he's already fed me twice with really amazing food, so I can't exactly just plunk anything down on the table. Dessert is taken care of, but I have yet to come up with a decent main course.

*grumble*

Fried zucchini is on the menu, anyway. I hope he likes zucchini. I've already made lemon chicken for him once, so a repeat performance is probably not in order. He's already had my mother's salmon, so I won't make that either...

*more perusing ensues*

Oooh! Artichokes! That's an idea... If they're in season...

Am in super good mood.

Events of day, in chronological order:

1- Maternal Unit called at 6:15am. Was nice to hear from her, even though I wanted to sleep in.

2- Proceeded to sleep in until eleven. Threw some water at the plants, fed and watered the condor in the living room.

3- Had wonderful lunch with Firewillow. She slept last night, which was good. I was beginning to worry about her. Began elaborating Operation Persephone at lunch. You all know the myth: extrapolate. ;)

4- Got hair done. Stylist did *fabulous* job. I am über–thrilled. Will show off next week.

5- Had dinner with Poms and Parental Units. Polish restaurant in Old Montreal, where food rocked mightily. Conversation fun but unintelligible as was mostly gossip from North Hatley.

6- Saw The Cripple of Inishmaan afterwards, which also rocked. I kid you not: if you have the money, go see it. It's fabulous.

7- Got to meet Moira Wylie, wife of Douglas Campbell, who has a supporting role in the play. Lovely woman, she is. :)

8- Got home in time to speak with Curtana a bit about stuff that's bothering her. I hope everything goes well —at least, as well as it can. I'll be sending good vibes all through tomorrow.

9- Sent an email to one of Curtana's friends, who is also an SIer. Hope I didn't tread on too many toes, but I want to give everyone the same opportunity to get support and understanding that I did when I thought I was all alone and a freak and all sorts of badness.

10- Speaking with Curtana has prompted me to speed up Operation Persephone. I have decided not to wait until I get my own place to rescue the poor cat. It doesn't deserve a moment longer out there. So next week she will be coming home with me.

The Parental Units will freak out when they get home, but I'll just have to weather out the storm and move out as quickly as possible.

Curtana also put me on the trail of another apartment, which looks promising thus far. I'm also thinking of acquiring a roommate to simplify the process, and Curtana suggested that Witch Hazel might be a good choice, as she may be coming to Montreal in August and will need a place to stay.

Of course, Witch Hazel would likely have to be apprized of this plan. *grin* She may object, after all, as I will be the proud owner of a beautiful kitty, and she is apparently mildly allergic. Also, while I'm clean and usually respectable enough, I have enough quirks that I take some getting used to, and the chemistry between us might just be all wrong.

I hope she comes to visit soon so we can find out. :)
