[insert minor whimpering here]
Nov. 3rd, 2002 06:04 pmStupid migraines.
I realised yesterday that I'd probably started this migraine on Friday and managed to keep it at controllable levels until I went to Concept where it was hot and stuffy and some people were wearing unidentifiable but strong perfume or cologne.
So a combination of sugar, not enough sleep, and the Con was more than enough to put me over the edge. Bah.
Thursday was great fun for me, even though I rather suspect it wasn't that much fun for everyone else. I have to work on my party-giving skills. Certainly last-minute invitations are right out. It was nice to have fearsclave take some time out of his hectic schedule to pop by, and seeing everyone else after quite a while (except Poms, but it's always nice to see him ^_-) was great.
At least they all knew each other and I didn't have to make introductions by then.
Friday was a blur of sugar and boredom until I went out for dinner with Poms and his mother, as well as her brother and his current wife. It was a fun if subdued affair, certainly not like the more exuberant dinners I've had while in North Hatley, but the crowd was rather different this time. I have the distinct feeling that Poms' mother thinks I'm an amiable flake, but what can you do? I guess I *am* an amiable flake...
Saturday was spent playing UN Peace Corps with the Parental Units, then at Concept where I made a spectacle of myself by accidentally insulting Jason Carter. Hey, it was noisy and he wasn't using the mike and I wanted to hear what he was saying! Anyway, he took it with good grace, but proceeded to mock me intermittently for the next hour. It was lots of fun up until my peripheral vision started to go white and spots of colour began appearing in my vison.
So I went home and wussed out on paintball. Later wussed out on Hurley's too, because they were only going to get there by 10:30, and I was already three-quarters comatose by then. I was awake only because I'd spent the last fifteen minutes puking when Poms called to inform me of the troops' movements.
Did I mention I hate migraines?
Woke up this morning to find the pain a lot more manageable, although not gone. Spent the day alternately napping, checking the BUS board, doing a bit of Harry Potter Trivia, napping, and snuggling with the FFEs.
Am considering trying out the Tai Chi place Firewillow mentioned. I've always wanted to do Tai Chi, but the only place in Verdun that offers courses is a local high school whose classes take place in the afternoon, so no go there. Still, $80 a month is pretty damned steep. I'll end up living on Kraft Dinner for ever...
